United Federal Credit Union is looking for an experienced SBA Underwriter to help evaluate SBA lending opportunities and support sound credit decision-making. In this role, you will analyze loan requests, assess financial risk, ensure compliance with SBA requirements, and work closely with lending partners to deliver timely credit recommendations.

This position offers the opportunity to work closely with a collaborative SBA lending team while making a meaningful impact on small businesses across the communities we serve.

What You'll Do

·   Underwrite SBA loan applications in accordance with SBA guidelines and UFCU credit policies.

·   Review borrower financial statements, tax returns, and supporting documentation to assess creditworthiness and repayment capacity.

·   Prepare cash flow analyses and credit recommendations that clearly identify transaction risks and mitigating factors.

·   Ensure loan requests meet SBA eligibility requirements and UFCU lending standards.

·   Review and evaluate third-party reports, including:

-  Business valuations

-  Environmental reports

-  Real estate appraisals

-  Other due diligence documentation

·   Collaborate with SBA Business Development Officers and other lending partners throughout the underwriting process.

·   Communicate credit decisions and prepare credit modifications or change memorandums when necessary.

·   Maintain a strong working knowledge of SBA regulations, lending programs, and underwriting best practices.

·   Assist with policy updates and process improvements related to SBA lending.

·   Participate in ongoing training to remain current on SBA requirements and industry changes.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

·   Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field.

·   Minimum of two years of SBA underwriting experience.

·   Strong financial analysis and cash flow modeling skills.

·   Experience interpreting financial statements, tax returns, and commercial credit information.

·   Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.

·   Strong written communication skills with the ability to present credit recommendations clearly and concisely.
