RPGLE Developer (IBM iSeries / AS400) - EST & CST

Title - RPGLE Developer (IBM iSeries / AS400)

Type - Contract for 3 -6 months

Location - Remote - EST & CST

We are seeking an experienced RPGLE Developer with 5+ years of hands-on experience developing and supporting applications on the IBM iSeries (AS/400) platform. The ideal candidate will be skilled in RPG IV (ILE RPG), RPG Free, CL Programming, Embedded SQL, and DB2, with experience maintaining legacy applications, troubleshooting issues, and delivering enhancements in an Agile SDLC environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and implement RPGLE applications.
• Support and maintain existing IBM iSeries (AS/400) applications.
• Write CL programs and Embedded SQL for application development.
• Optimize DB2 database performance and data access.
• Debug, validate, and test application enhancements and legacy system modifications.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions and maintain technical documentation.

A. Technical Core

1. Strong proficiency in RPG IV (ILE RPG) and RPG Free

2. Experience with CL programming and embedded SQL

3. Hands-on experience on IBM iSeries (AS/400) platforms

4 Solid understanding of DB2 databases, including data access optimization and performance tuning

5. 5+ years of direct RPGLE programming experience

6. Experience with the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) and familiarity with Agile methodologies

7. Experience writing code and creating documentation.

8. Experience validating programs. 

9. Experience with QA and testing applications and modifications to legacy applications.

B. Application Development

 a. Ability to design, code, test, and implement RPGLE-based applications

b. Experience in supporting and maintaining existing applications, including debugging and troubleshooting

c. Ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications

Requirements

• 5+ years of RPG IV (ILE RPG) and RPG Free development experience.
• Strong CL Programming and Embedded SQL skills.
• Hands-on IBM iSeries (AS/400) experience.
• DB2 database performance tuning and optimization.
• SDLC and Agile development experience.
• Application testing, QA, debugging, and technical documentation.
