The Survey Research Science and Operations practice is seeking a Research Assistant to support a large-scale federal statistical program and other survey research projects. Approximately 75% of the position will support a major, ongoing federal data collection program, with the remaining 25% supporting other research projects for government and commercial clients.

This entry level role is ideal for someone who is highly organized, learns new processes quickly, and enjoys turning direction into action. The Research Analyst will work across multiple project workstreams and will be responsible for helping the team keep activities moving by tracking priorities, executing assigned tasks, coordinating with colleagues and partners, maintaining documentation, reviewing data and materials, and following up on open items.

The work will provide exposure to many aspects of the survey research lifecycle, including survey operations, field data collection, questionnaire testing, data quality, reporting, and support of project management tasks. The successful candidate will be comfortable managing multiple competing priorities, shifting between different types of tasks, and taking ownership of assignments from start to finish.

This position is fully remote.

What you’ll do

• Support day-to-day implementation of a large-scale federal statistical and data collection program, working across multiple research, field operations, data, and reporting workstreams. 

• Assist with survey data collection activities, including monitoring field progress, reviewing data collection metrics, and supporting issue resolution.

• Help maintain project schedules, trackers, task lists, documentation, and other tools used to keep workstreams on schedule. 

• Participate in project meetings, document decisions and action items, and follow through on assigned next steps.

• Support coordination with internal staff, subcontractors, field teams, and other project partners. 

• Review survey data, reports, questionnaires, materials, and other project products for completeness, accuracy, and consistency.

• Support questionnaire programming and software testing, including documenting and retesting identified issues.

• Support preparation of recurring reports, presentations, analyses, and client deliverables.

• Provide support for qualitative research activities, such as recruitment, logistics, interviews or focus groups, and note taking, as needed.

What you must have

• Bachelor's Degree required, preferably in social sciences, business, statistics, economics, or a similar field.

• 1+ year of relevant work experience.

Additional professional skills and experience preferred:  

• Interest in survey research methods and implementation.

• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Excellent verbal, interpersonal, and written communication skills.

• Ability to multi-task through prioritizing and managing numerous activities simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

• Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and collaboratively as part of a team.

• Demonstrated proficiency in MS Office products, especially Word, Excel, and Outlook

• Proficiency in one or more languages in addition to English is a plus, particularly experience working with multilingual research or data collection.

• Interest or experience with aviation/tourism/travel research a plus.
