The Role and Team
The Engineering Operations team within Medallia Cloud Services is looking for a world class Release Engineer to design, drive and own the delivery of the various Medallia platform and self-service products. The role includes the scheduling, coordination and management of releases across various portfolios as well as helping product and project teams to manage and deploy releases into production.
As owner of the Release Management lifecycle, he or she will work collaboratively with the various Medallia R&D teams along the SDLC: Product Design and Development, Test Engineering, Continuous Delivery, SRE, Production and Managed Services to design, influence and execute on development and delivery processes and strategies. This position involves regular communication with the various levels of the organization. Therefore, excellent communication skills and strong technical competency are essential.
The ideal candidate has thrived and succeeded in delivering releases across various platforms, services and technologies with complex dependencies in a very high growth environment where priorities shift quickly.
This role is based remotely in Pune. Candidates for this position are required to reside within the Pune metropolitan area. Relocation support is not available at this time.
Responsibilities- Support the end to end Feature Enablement process across the Company.
- Act as the subject matter expert for Groot, providing guidance and best-practice consultations to R&D teams on flag configuration, targeting logic, and blast-radius mitigation.
- Partner with Product stakeholders and Engineering Leaders to coordinate and assess Rollout Plan readiness.
- Review Rollout Plans and classify them on any of the different rollout types: Deployment-Phase, EM/PM Manage, Auto-On.
- Manage risk, dependencies and resolve issues that affect end to end enablements and feature flags in general, included but not limited to: scope, schedule and quality.
- Own the Cloud Release Train Enablement schedule, partnering with other Release Managers to understand the deployment phases to production and communicating to other teams such us the Go to Market team, Professional Services, Technical Support, and Sales the planned schedule for Feature Availability
- Proactively audit active feature flags to identify and reduce technical debt, ensuring that "stale" or deprecated flags are systematically decommissioned
- Forward-plan Enablement windows and cycles across services and platforms.
- Work with engineers and the Product team to align solutions for upcoming Features.
- Support other engineering teams to follow our standards and processes, guide them to deploy microservices on our main environments.
- Measure and monitor progress to ensure application releases/changes are delivered on time and according to goals and expectations.
- Track and report metrics and KPIs on progress and effectiveness of Enablement activities.
Qualifications- Deep hands-on experience managing Runtime Feature Protection Mechanisms and utilizing Groot to control feature availability, testing in production, and canary rollouts
- Proven ability to architect feature flagging strategies that balance developer velocity with platform stability and risk management
- Proven ability to review and establish rollout plan strategies that balance go to market time and development effort.
- In-Depth knowledge of Gen Ai Feature Enablements.
- Demonstrated experience working on feature flags decommission initiatives.
- 3+ years of experience in Release Management or in a related role (i.e. project management, change management in engineering domain)
- Demonstrated experience managing software releases changes
- Demonstrated understanding working with code management, and Jira
- Demonstrated experience in project management and coordinating cross-functional work teams toward task completion
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
Preferred Qualifications - Experience managing software releases and changes in a Saas/Cloud environment
- Experience managing complex deadlines among multiple Products and Engineering teams
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent organizational skills
- Experience with agile development methodologies
- Experience working with Groot applications is a must.
