🧡 Coverflex

Work changed. Pay didn't.

Coverflex exists to make compensation work for everyone.

Pay is still rigid, fragmented, and hard to feel.

We turn compensation into choice — one platform, one card, one app — for benefits, meal allowance, insurance and more.

Our platform is simple for HR and meaningful for employees.

We provide choice, smarter compensation tools and empowerment.

💥 Your Impact

Coverflex is hiring this role to keep our compensation platform reliable, resilient, and delightful — building quality in rather than inspecting it at the end. Every test strategy, automation, and quality gate you own directly protects the financial wellbeing of hundreds of thousands of users who rely on Coverflex for benefits, insurance, and flexible compensation. This is a role with real autonomy: you'll lead quality strategy end-to-end with minimal oversight.

You'll know you're successful when, after 90 days, you've…

  1. Shipped meaningful test automation that directly improves your team's confidence in deployments and reduces time spent on manual verification

  2. Built reliable test infrastructure that runs in CI/CD with fast feedback, proper reporting, and actionable failure signals

  3. Improved system quality through thoughtful test coverage, better observability, reduced flakiness, or enhanced monitoring and alerting

  4. Established solid foundations — proper test pyramids, observability patterns, documentation — that set your team up for sustained velocity

  5. Demonstrated quality ownership by leading test strategy for features end-to-end with minimal oversight, making sound trade-offs, and owning outcomes, not just test counts

  6. Elevated the team through constructive code reviews, knowledge sharing, pairing with engineers, and contributing to quality standards and best practices

  7. Collaborated effectively with product by bringing a quality perspective to discovery, identifying risks, challenging assumptions, and helping the team build resilient systems

How we'll measure success:

  • Reliability, week over week — measurable movement on defect escape rate, test coverage, pipeline stability, cycle time, and confidence in releases

  • Test suite health — fast execution, minimal flakiness, comprehensive reporting, and coverage that scales with the product

  • Team velocity — reusable test patterns, clear quality gates, and practices that compound over time

  • Deployment confidence — safety nets that catch issues before they reach production

⚡ Reality Check

What Makes This Role Hard

  • Quality is everyone's job, but someone needs to lead it. You'll coach and influence without authority — you're not a gatekeeper, you're an enabler, which means building trust and demonstrating value rather than mandating process.

  • You're navigating a lot of moving parts. Compensation touches payments, benefits, insurance, compliance, and integrations with external providers, so your test strategies have to span multiple systems — and you'll coordinate across product, operations, and infrastructure without clear-cut boundaries.

  • Every country adds complexity. We operate in Portugal, Italy, and Spain, each with different regulations, tax rules, benefit types, and compliance requirements — your test strategies need to flex across markets without becoming unmaintainable.

  • Prevention is harder than detection. Finding bugs is easy; preventing them by shifting quality left into requirements, design, and architecture takes deeper collaboration — you need to be in the room early, not just at the end of a sprint.

👤 You

Must-haves (evidence, not years)

  • Test Automation: strong experience with modern frameworks (Playwright, Cypress, Jest, or similar)

  • Programming: proficient in at least one language (TypeScript, JavaScript, Java, Elixir)

  • CI/CD: experience with pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins)

  • API Testing: comfortable with contract testing, REST/GraphQL validation

  • Observability: familiarity with observability tools (Datadog, Grafana, Sentry)

  • Collaboration: works well embedded in cross-functional teams

  • Communication: can articulate quality risks and trade-offs clearly

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with mobile testing (Maestro, Appium)

  • Background in fintech, payments, or regulated industries

🧬 Your DNA

You enjoy building products that delight users, you collaborate closely with the team, and you have the drive to keep improving how the team works to raise quality. You approach quality with an AI-era mindset, complementing the team rather than duplicating it.

You'll probably find this frustrating if…

You treat quality as a queue of tickets to be tested rather than something you help build into the product from the start.

🤖 AI & Hiring Tools Transparency

We use a few tools to reduce bias and improve documentation, not to make hiring decisions.

  • Teamtailor anonymisation: profiles are reviewed without relying on names/personal identifiers.

  • Meeting recorder (e.g., Talka.ai): may be used to capture interviews so we can focus on the conversation.

  • ChatGPT: may be used to turn interview notes/transcripts into clear, structured summaries.

Important: every application is reviewed by a human, and no decision or rejection is made by AI. If recording is used, we'll be transparent and (where required) ask for consent.

⏱️ Speed & Communication

  • Decision: within 4 weeks of your application.

  • Updates: weekly if the process runs longer.

  • Scheduling: interviews between 10:00–16:00 CET (flexible across Europe).

  • Feedback: from the Case stage onwards, you'll always receive written or verbal feedback - what went well, and what to strengthen next time.
