The QA Engineer will analyze game mechanics and execute thorough test plans to ensure high-quality releases across mobile and web platforms. They will collaborate with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment to identify, document, and resolve complex bugs while maintaining data integrity.
About the Role
High 5 Games is seeking a dedicated QA Engineer to help us build the next generation of land-based, online, mobile, and social games. We are looking for an outstanding software tester who thrives on hunting down bugs, has a keen eye for a flawless user experience, and possesses a genuine passion for the gaming industry.
As our QA Engineer, you will act as the final gatekeeper for our releases, going beyond surface-level checks to deeply analyze game logic, mechanics, and client/server backend systems. Collaborating directly with developers and designers in an Agile environment, you will be trusted with sensitive, pre-release game data—making absolute integrity, discretion, and reliability essential to your success.
Responsibilities
Game Analysis & Test Execution: Deeply analyze slot game mechanics and features to identify potential flaws. Write and execute thorough test plans and creative test cases, ensuring coverage of complex scenarios and edge cases that standard testing might miss.
Root Cause Analysis & Debugging: Analyze historical data, crash logs, and backtraces using basic debugging techniques to help engineers categorize and identify the root causes of issues.
Cross-Platform UI/UX QA: Ensure the user interface is top-notch by performing rigorous mobile (iOS/Android) and cross-browser testing for a seamless player experience.
Backend Verification: Conduct robust API and Database (DB) testing to ensure secure, accurate data flow, wallet transactions, and seamless server integrations.
Agile Collaboration: Participate actively in our Agile development cycle and stand-ups, working proactively with cross-functional teams to resolve issues early in the process.
Bug Tracking & Adaptability: Identify, isolate, and document complex bugs clearly in a fast-paced environment that often requires frequent shifts in focus. Manage your workflow to meet strict production deadlines without compromising quality.
Requirements
Education & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent experience) with a minimum of 5 years of hands-on QA testing experience in the software or gaming industry.
Slot Game Expertise: Proven experience testing slot games (understanding RNG, paylines, bonus features) and a passion for casino and social/mobile gaming.
Core Technical QA: Demonstrable experience in API testing (e.g., Postman, REST Assured), Database testing (e.g., SQL queries), and working with command-line tools for debugging.
Platform Knowledge: Strong background testing native and web-based mobile applications, with a solid working knowledge of iOS, Android, Windows, and Linux operating systems.
Certifications: Must hold a recognized Software Testing Certificate (such as ISTQB or equivalent) to demonstrate a solid foundational understanding of formal software testing methodologies.
Tools: Familiarity with bug tracking software, specifically JIRA.
Automation Knowledge (Advantageous): While primarily a manual testing role, experience with QA Automation (e.g., Selenium, Appium, Cypress) is a significant advantage.
Analytical Problem-Solver: Possesses best-in-class analytical skills to dissect complex issues and anticipate creative ways a user might break the game.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to clearly articulate technical concepts to both engineering and non-technical audiences.
Driven Team Player: Goal-oriented, proactive, open-minded, and receptive to feedback. You look for solutions rather than just pointing out problems.
Trustworthy: High professional integrity and discretion when handling proprietary game mechanics, internal game logic, and unreleased IP.
