Job Title - Product and Chemical Compliance Analyst

Location: Remote (5 Days Working (Mon-Fri) | Shift: 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM UK Time )

Role Purpose: 

To support the Group Product & Chemical Compliance Team by coordinating product and chemical compliance activities, managing compliance data and reporting, and ensuring Coats meets regulatory, customer and industry requirements across all our global operations.

Principal Accountabilities and Key Activities:

Compliance Operations

• Provision of data analysis to Group-wide compliance performance.
• Manage the Group Product & Chemical Compliance Team inbox:      
• • Log, assign and track all compliance requests;
  • Assigning requests to the responsible Coats technical lead;
  • Issue and file all approved compliance returns to internal stakeholders;
  • Produce monthly KPI reports summarizing processed requests and analysis of workflow performance.

Product Compliance

• Support the Coats Restricted Substances List RSL) update process to include update of all applicable test methods; data management of supplier returns; and tracking of compliance exceptions and Group-wide reporting requirements.
• Collaborate with Procurement teams and site Chemicals Officers to ensure that all production sites are fully compliant with Coats RSL.
• Support Group RSL testing schedule for Apparel & Footwear brand testing requirements.
• Initially supporting the submission of RSL testing applications through designated laboratories and designated brand platforms, progressing to managing this activity following successful completion of training. To include checking and validation of all RSL test application laboratory invoices.
• Coordinate and support the continuous three-yearly review and update of Coats Finished Goods SDSs to meet regulatory requirements.  

Systems & Reporting

• Maintain the Group RSL returns statutory 10-year filing system.
• Maintain Footwear Structural Component RSL reporting database (incl. all due dates, tracking and results receipt).
• Maintain “Product Safety” page on SharePoint, ensuring all content and regulatory support documents are up to date and relevant to operational functions.
• Maintain the compliance team generic reporting templates and approved caveats database.
• Track unit Higg FEM & SLCP performance.
• Track unit ZDHC performance.
• Support annual Group EcoVadis assessment submission.

Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to improve compliance processes, reporting and data management.
• Support wider Team and Group-level compliance projects as required.

Education, Qualifications, and Experience:

Essential-

• Degree (or equivalent experience) in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science,  Materials/Textile Engineering or similar.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a business environment.
• An understanding of legal requirements relating to Health & Safety and the Environment.
• Experience in managing data accurately.
• Energetic and enthusiastic team player with a desire to learn.
• Excellent numerical and analytical skills.
• Strong task proritisation skills.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Competent with Microsoft Word, Excel & PowerPoint.

Desirable-

• Previous experience in textile or manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of global chemical regulations (for example: UK/EU REACH, RoHS, US EPA TSCA, Canadian DSL, Australian IChEMS, California Prop65).
• Experience of Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
• Experience of EcoVadis.
• Advanced MS Excel
