Overview

At Microsoft, our Cloud Operations + Innovation (CO+I) organization powers the infrastructure behind the world’s fastest-growing AI and cloud platforms. The Datacenter Integration (DCI) Procurement team plays a critical role in enabling predictable delivery of capacity across a rapidly expanding global datacenter portfolio.

We are seeking an execution-oriented leader to serve as DCI Contract Manager, responsible for developing, negotiating, and executing procurement contracts that support global data center infrastructure (DCI) equipment and services. This role partners with suppliers, lessors, sourcing teams, engineering, cost, legal, and regional delivery teams to translate commercial requirements into clear, executable agreements that protect Microsoft while enabling speed to capacity.

Key responsibilities include drafting and negotiating equipment and lessor contracts, ensuring appropriate commercial terms and risk protections, managing contract execution through signature and purchase order readiness, and resolving contractual issues that could impact delivery. The Contract Manager drives contract quality and cycle-time performance, maintains strong controls and documentation, and proactively identifies opportunities to standardize and simplify contracting.

Success in this role requires strong commercial judgment, contract negotiation and writing skills, attention to detail, stakeholder management, and the ability to operate with urgency in a complex, high-growth infrastructure environment.

This role is located either in one or all hub locations - Atlanta, GA, Redmond, WA, Houston, TX , Dallas, TX, Richmond, VA,  Phoenix, AZ. Relocation support will be provided, and successful candidates must ​relocate or reside within 50 miles of the hub office location. This role is eligible for hybrid or remote work.

Responsibilities
  • Contract Development & Execution: Lead drafting, negotiation, and execution of procurement contracts, amendments, SOWs, and commercial agreements for DCI equipment, suppliers, and lessors. Own the contracting lifecycle from sourcing award through signature and PO readiness.
  • Commercial & Risk Management: Ensure agreements accurately reflect negotiated scope, pricing, delivery commitments, payment terms, warranties, remedies, and commercial protections. Identify and resolve contractual risks while ensuring compliance with procurement policies and controls.
  • Supplier & Lessor Engagement: Serve as the primary contracting interface with suppliers and lessors, driving timely resolution of commercial issues, changes, disputes, and contractual commitments.
  • Cross-Functional Partnership: Partner with Sourcing, Engineering, Cost, Legal, Finance, Planning, and regional delivery teams to align contracts to business requirements and quickly resolve issues that could impact equipment or capacity delivery.
  • Contract Performance & Governance: Manage contract pipeline, cycle time, quality, approvals, and documentation. Drive performance against contracting SLAs and reduce iterations, rework, and execution bottlenecks.
  • Process Improvement: Standardize templates, playbooks, and contracting processes while leveraging data, automation, and AI to improve speed, consistency, and quality.
  • Capacity Delivery: Prioritize contracts based on business criticality and proactively escalate risks that could delay equipment orders, supplier mobilization, or data center capacity.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Master's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, Business, Finance or related field AND 3+ years experience in data science/analytics, finance, project management, supply chain, and/or operation OR Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, Business, Finance or related field AND 4+ years experience in data science/analytics, finance, project management, supply chain, and/or operations OR equivalent experience. 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, Finance, Engineering, Law, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in procurement, sourcing, commercial management, contract management, or a related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience drafting, negotiating, and executing complex commercial or procurement contracts with suppliers, lessors, contractors, or service providers.
  • Experience managing commercial terms, pricing, scope, delivery commitments, warranties, payment terms, change management, and contractual risk.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage contracts from sourcing/award through execution and purchase order readiness.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Legal, Finance, Engineering, Procurement/Sourcing, and business stakeholders to resolve commercial and contractual issues.
  • Strong negotiation, written communication, analytical, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple high-priority contracts in a fast-paced environment.

Other Requirements 

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:  
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in data centers, construction, infrastructure, energy, telecom, manufacturing, or other capital-intensive industries.
  • Experience managing procurement or contracting across multiple projects, metros, or a regional portfolio.
  • Knowledge of equipment procurement, construction/lease contracting, supplier management, and commercial risk management.
  • Experience using procurement data, KPIs, and contract performance metrics to identify risks and drive execution.

Sourcing and Category Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $97,600 - $188,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $125,000 - $206,400 per year.

Sourcing and Category Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $116,900 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $148,400 - $222,600 per year.
