You will lead complex initiatives across products and technical domains, owning the strategy, roadmap, and P&L outcomes for private cloud and storage product families. You will collaborate with engineering, sales, and marketing to turn strategic direction into measurable business outcomes and successful product launches.
Some product challenges reach beyond a single roadmap. They involve shared technology, competing priorities, and decisions that affect how multiple services work together.
As a Principal Technical Product Manager at Summit, you’ll lead complex initiatives across products and technical domains. You’ll work with product leadership and partners across Delivery, Sales, and Marketing to turn strategic direction into clear product decisions, coordinated plans, and measurable outcomes.
This is a senior individual contributor role reporting into the Head of Product. Your impact will come through technical product judgment, influence across teams, and mentorship that strengthens how Summit plans and delivers complex product work.
What you'll own
· A product family, end to end. Own strategy, roadmap and P&L outcomes for our private cloud, storage, and OS management product families, from discovery through launch and adoption.
· The roadmap, with real decision rights. Decide what we build, what we defer and what we kill. Bring a recommendation with the tradeoffs, not a list of options.
· Customer and market truth. Spend time with customers, partners, and our Sales and SE teams every month. Turn what you hear and what the data shows into clear problem statements.
· Launches that land. Ship with Engineering on a predictable cadence, and equip Sales, SEs and channel partners to sell what we ship from day one.
· Cross-portfolio opportunities. Find where infrastructure and application-hosting products combine into offers neither unit could sell alone.
What success looks like
· First 30 days: You know the product, the customers and the team. You have met 3 customers and shadowed Sales and SE calls, and you can explain where the product wins and loses.
· First 90 days: You have published a revised roadmap for your area with clear priorities and the reasoning behind them, and the team is shipping against it. At least one meaningful release is out the door.
· First year: Your area has moved a business number we agreed on up front, such as bookings, net revenue retention rate, or EBITDA margin. Engineering, Sales and leadership trust your calls without needing to re-litigate them.
How you'll work
· You move with urgency. You see a two-week delay as a cost, not a calendar fact. You unblock things yourself, make reversible decisions quickly, and save deliberation for the ones that can't be undone.
· You work independently and own the roadmap. Nobody hands you a backlog. You decide what matters, write it down, defend it, and change course when the evidence says so. You escalate decisions, not problems.
· You’re curious about customers. You’d rather sit in on a customer call than read a summary of one, and you know our competitors’ pricing without looking it up.
· You hold strong opinions loosely. You make decisions with data where it exists and judgment where it doesn’t, and you say “I was wrong” quickly.
· You change your language for the room. With Engineering you go deep on architecture, APIs, hypervisors, networking and tradeoffs, and you earn their respect. With Sales, partners and customers you explain the same product in terms of outcomes, price and risk, without jargon. You write clearly for both.
· You raise the bar for the team. Your requirements documents, roadmaps and launch plans become the examples others copy. You coach other PMs informally through your work.
What you bring
Must-haves
· 8+ years in product management, with B2B infrastructure, cloud, hosting, networking or developer-platform products
· A track record of owning a roadmap and showing a measurable business result from it; you can name the number and what you did to move it
· Technical depth to hold your own with infrastructure engineers on virtualization, storage, networking or platform APIs; an engineering or SE background is a plus
· Evidence of shipping on a tight cadence, including at least one product taken from idea to launch
· Clear, concise writing for both technical and executive or customer audiences
· You use AI tools every day to move faster: research, drafting, analysis, prototyping
Nice-to-haves
· Experience with private cloud platforms (e.g. CloudStack, VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox, alternatives), storage arrays, AI infrastructure, or security products
· Pricing, packaging or margin work for usage-based or hourly-billed services
· Experience selling through channel partners or enabling a sales and SE team
· Experience integrating products or teams after an acquisition
