The Engagement Manager is responsible for shaping, qualifying, and governing customer engagements to deliver measurable business outcomes through Siemens Professional Services. This role manages the full engagement lifecycle, from initial discovery and value framing to proposal development, contracting, and executive governance.
Position Overview
The Engagement Manager is accountable for shaping, qualifying and governing customer engagements that deliver measurable business outcomes through Siemens Professional Services. Working across industries and a broad portfolio that includes Intelligence Center X (ICX), SLC, Mendix and other Siemens Digital Industries Software offerings, this role connects customer priorities, account strategy, solution architecture, commercial structure and delivery readiness.
The role owns the engagement lifecycle from early discovery and value framing through proposal, contracting, mobilization and executive governance. Success requires the ability to translate business needs into executable services engagements, build trusted relationships across customer and Siemens teams, protect delivery and commercial integrity, and expand the services pipeline through successful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Account Strategy and Opportunity Development
Lead the Professional Services component of account plans across an assigned portfolio of customers and industries.
Partner with Sales, Portfolio Development, Presales, Solution Architects and Delivery leaders to identify, shape and prioritize services opportunities.
Connect customer business priorities to Siemens capabilities, defining outcome-oriented transformation roadmaps rather than isolated product deployments.
Build trusted relationships with customer executives, business leaders, technology stakeholders and delivery sponsors.
Maintain a qualified pursuit pipeline and contribute to bookings, revenue and growth objectives through expansion of existing accounts and development of new opportunities.
Bring relevant industry, portfolio and delivery insights into account strategy, customer workshops and executive discussions.
2. Discovery, Value Framing and Engagement Definition
Lead structured discovery to clarify the customer problem, desired outcomes, value hypotheses, operating constraints and measures of success.
Orchestrate the right Siemens and partner expertise across ICX, SLC, Mendix and adjacent products to define an integrated solution and services approach.
Translate discovery outputs into a clear engagement model, scope, deliverables, assumptions, dependencies, acceptance criteria and governance structure.
Develop defensible estimates, schedules, staffing models and commercials using approved Services Delivery Framework methods and tools.
Identify delivery, technical, commercial, security, data, adoption and organizational risks early, with explicit mitigations and ownership.
Prepare and review Statements of Work and related proposal content, ensuring alignment with global standards, legal requirements and customer expectations.
Engage Legal, Finance, Commercial, Product and leadership stakeholders when non-standard terms, complex dependencies or elevated risk require resolution.
3. Commercial and Financial Management
Ensure proposals are commercially viable, financially sound and structured to balance customer value with Siemens delivery risk.
Select the appropriate engagement and contracting model, including fixed-fee, time-and-materials, phased, pilot-to-scale and partner-supported approaches.
Optimize the delivery mix across local, nearshore, offshore, partner and contractor resources while preserving accountability, quality and required expertise.
Maintain accurate pursuit forecasts for bookings, revenue, cost, margin, resource demand and timing in the relevant business systems.
Provide peer reviews of proposals and support annual and quarterly services planning.
4. Delivery Mobilization and Governance
Bridge Sales and Delivery by leading a disciplined handover that confirms scope, customer commitments, commercials, risks, staffing and success criteria.
Work with Services leadership to secure appropriately skilled engagement leadership, project management, architecture and delivery resources.
Ensure effective project mobilization, customer onboarding, governance cadence, decision rights, escalation paths and working agreements.
Participate in executive steering committees, project reviews and account reviews to maintain alignment on outcomes, risks, decisions and commercial health.
Support the Project Manager and Delivery Lead in resolving scope, resource, dependency and commercial issues without displacing delivery accountability.
Identify expansion opportunities based on achieved value, emerging needs and the customer roadmap, and transition them into qualified pursuits.
Ensure lessons learned, reusable assets and customer feedback are captured and shared across the engagement management community.
5. Practice Leadership and Continuous Improvement
Promote consistent use of Siemens engagement, estimating, proposal, governance and risk-management standards.
Contribute reusable playbooks, templates, case studies and best practices that improve speed, quality and scalability across the practice.
Build working knowledge across the Siemens portfolio and maintain sufficient fluency to connect product capabilities into coherent customer solutions.
Mentor peers and delivery contributors in engagement shaping, executive communication, commercial discipline and customer governance.
Represent Siemens with integrity and comply with all applicable legal, commercial, information security, health and safety, and business-conduct requirements.
Required Qualifications
10+ years of experience across professional services, consulting, enterprise software, solution delivery, customer success or services sales, including meaningful experience shaping and governing complex engagements.
Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional pursuits from discovery through proposal, contracting, mobilization and delivery governance.
Strong commercial and financial acumen, including estimation, pricing, contracting models, forecasting, margin awareness and risk management.
Executive-level communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics, influence decisions and manage competing stakeholder expectations.
Experience coordinating global and partner-enabled delivery teams across multiple priorities and organizational boundaries.
Ability to define clear outcomes, scope, assumptions, dependencies, acceptance criteria and governance for software-enabled transformation initiatives.
Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, engineering, mathematics or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
Willingness to travel and work across customer locations and time zones as required, consistent with company policy and local requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Siemens Digital Industries Software, including one or more of ICX, SLC, Mendix, Teamcenter, NX, Opcenter, Graph Studio, AI Studio or related portfolio offerings.
Experience shaping multi-product or solution-centric programs that integrate applications, data, AI, workflow and enterprise platforms.
Experience working across industrial, manufacturing, aerospace and defense, automotive, electronics, semiconductor, energy or other complex enterprise environments.
Background in large-scale software implementation, program leadership, solution architecture, organizational change or value realization.
Experience with prescriptive, best-practice-led deployments that balance customer requirements with standard capabilities and sustainable operating models.
Success Measures
Quality and conversion of the qualified services pipeline.
Bookings, revenue, margin and forecast accuracy for the assigned portfolio.
Engagement readiness at handover, including clarity of scope, staffing, commercials, governance and risk ownership.
Customer confidence, executive alignment and measurable progress toward agreed business outcomes.
Expansion of successful engagements into repeatable, scalable customer value.
Adoption of standard methods, reusable assets and lessons learned across the practice.
