Position Purpose

The Plan Consultant is a client-facing member of Ubiquity's Client Onboarding team, responsible for leading plan design discussions with new and converting plan sponsors and guiding them through the provisions of their plan. This role translates client elections into accurate plan documentation, partners closely with the Documents team to keep plan documents current and manages the handoff from Retirement Plan Consultants (RPCs) into onboarding.

The Plan Consultant is expected to operate with a high degree of independence, using sound judgment, critical thinking, and resourcefulness to resolve plan design questions and non-standard situations while maintaining accuracy, client trust, and established SLAs.

Core Responsibilities

Plan Design & Client Consultation

  • Lead plan design discussions with new and converting plan sponsors, explaining available provisions, eligibility requirements, contribution formulas, vesting schedules, and other design options.

  • Walk clients through plan provisions clearly, ensuring sponsors understand the implications of their elections before they are finalized.

  • Answer client questions on plan design using industry expertise and sound judgment, recommending appropriate options based on client goals and plan requirements.

  • Identify plan design issues or potential compliance concerns during client discussions and resolve or escalate as needed.

  • Speak knowledgeably to plan compliance and calculation review results, including new comparability allocations, and explain outcomes and implications to clients.

New Plan & Conversion Call Management

  • Conduct calls with new and conversion clients to gather plan design elections, review provisions, and confirm requirements.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients on plan design related questions throughout onboarding.

  • Manage multiple concurrent onboarding and conversion cases, ensuring timelines and SLAs are met.

Documentation & Cross-Team Coordination

  • Partner with the Documents team to translate client plan design decisions into accurate, updated plan documents.

  • Review draft plan documents against client elections for accuracy and completeness before finalization.

  • Take handoffs from Retirement Plan Consultants (RPCs), ensuring sales-stage context, client information, and elections transfer cleanly into onboarding.

  • Coordinate with Compliance, Conversions, and Client Experience teams as needed to resolve plan design or documentation questions.

Process Ownership & Improvement

  • Apply critical thinking and resourcefulness to independently resolve ambiguous or non-standard plan design situations.

  • Proactively identify gaps in the handoff process, documentation accuracy, or client communication and recommend improvements.

  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date case notes and documentation in Salesforce and Ubiquity systems.

Compensation & Schedule 

The annual base salary range for this role is $75,000–$95,000, with the opportunity to earn an additional 5% in variable compensation based on performance.

This role is expected to work 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m or 9:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. Pacific Time to ensure alignment and availability with the team.
