AI Summary

The People Operations Manager will oversee day-to-day HR functions including payroll, benefits, onboarding, and policy management. They will also collaborate with subsidiary companies to optimize processes and ensure compliance across the organization.

Position Overview

Nakamoto Inc. (Nasdaq: NAKA) is a remote-first company that holds a bitcoin treasury and operates bitcoin-native businesses spanning media and events, fund management, and advisory services. We are a publicly traded parent company managing diverse subsidiary businesses.

We're hiring a People Operations Manager to run day-to-day HR at Nakamoto – payroll, benefits, onboarding and offboarding, and policy – and to collaborate on processes and optimizations with our subsidiary companies (BTC Inc., UTXO, and any future acquisitions). In this role, you'll report to Nakamoto’s Head of Internal Operations and work closely with leaders and HR operators across the broader organization. This is an individual contributor role with no direct reports.

The ideal candidate will have experience in HR and payroll, and an appetite for process development. In a given week, you might help an employee through a benefits change, process tax withholding on an equity award, run a report for the Board of Directors, roll out a new policy, and roadmap a process improvement across companies. While some of our processes are established, we’ll get to do a lot of building together to bring efficiency, clarity, and opportunity to the Nakamoto working environment.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll & compensation administration

  • Process payroll (through Rippling) for W-2 employees and contractors
  • Troubleshoot payroll issues including state tax accounts and off-cycle adjustments
  • Maintain employee records and ensure data integrity across systems
  • Support equity award administration, including tax withholding processes, under the Employee Stock Plan

Benefits & retirement

  • Serve as the primary employee contact for health benefits questions; liaise with brokers to resolve issues
  • Coordinate open enrollment across entities
  • Support onboarding and ongoing administration of our 401(k)/PEP plan
  • Monitor compliance requirements across benefit programs

Hiring & employee lifecycle

  • Manage occasional job postings, applicant tracking, interview scheduling, and offer letter coordination
  • Own onboarding mechanics end-to-end: system access, equipment, documentation, and first-week experience
  • Maintain offboarding checklists and ensure clean separations across all entities
  • Support managers with the playbooks and tools they need to run their teams well

HR policy & compliance

  • Maintain and update employee handbooks and HR policies across entities
  • Support compliance with federal and state employment law, including requirements specific to a publicly traded company (insider trading, MNPI policies, etc.)
  • Flag emerging compliance risks and coordinate remediation with legal and operations

What We’re Looking For

  • 3+ years of HR or people operations experience, ideally in a multi-entity, remote-first, and/or public company environment; payroll experience especially preferred
  • SHRM-CP or PHR preferred
  • Hands-on experience processing multi-state payroll, including tax registrations, garnishments, and off-cycle corrections
  • Facility with Rippling or a comparable HRIS; facility with AI and automation; comfort learning new systems quickly
  • Working knowledge of benefits administration, 401(k) plan mechanics, and open enrollment processes
  • Strong attention to detail and a track record of owning complex, multi-threaded work
  • Comfort operating in ambiguity & building structure where needed
  • Clear, professional written communication; you'll be the face of HR ops to employees across entities
  • Based in the United States

Compensation

  • Base salary is targeted between $90,000 and $110,000 per year, depending on experience and location
  • Eligible for equity and cash performance bonuses
  • Full-time employees are eligible for healthcare benefits
  • Full-time employees will be eligible for 401(k) participation once available

In Your Application

Please upload a resume (PDF preferred), and a short cover letter describing a time you improved or built an HR process from scratch.
