The Payroll Analyst will manage end-to-end payroll operations for assigned LATAM markets, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery. They will also collaborate with local providers and internal stakeholders to improve payroll processes and support new market implementations.
About the company
Our client is a fast-growing global HR and payroll platform that helps businesses hire and manage employees compliantly across 180+ regions. Their integrated suite covers Employer of Record services, global payroll, contractor management, benefits, and compliance - powering a borderless economy for companies of every size.
The LATAM payroll team is small and hands-on, and this role is central to how the company delivers accurate, timely payroll across key markets in the region while continuing to expand its footprint globally.
Role Mission
Support accurate, compliant, and efficient payroll operations across an assigned portfolio of LATAM markets, including Argentina, Mexico, and Colombia. You'll act as a trusted partner to the global payroll team, local payroll experts, and external providers, ensuring payroll inputs, calculations, and country-specific requirements are managed accurately and consistently. This role combines hands-on payroll delivery with process improvement and support for new market implementation, in a fast-growing international business.
Key Responsibilities
Support end-to-end monthly payroll delivery across assigned LATAM markets - from input collection and review through validation, approvals, funding readiness, and output checks.
Gather, review, and validate payroll inputs, including new hires, salary changes, bonuses, leave impacts, deductions, terminations, and other employee lifecycle events.
Review payroll calculations and outputs, investigate discrepancies, complete reconciliations, and help ensure payroll is accurate and ready for approval and payment.
Maintain payroll calendars, checklists, trackers, calculation logic, validation rules, SOPs, and knowledge base materials for assigned countries.
Coordinate with local payroll providers and in-country experts to ensure country-specific payroll rules and requirements are reflected accurately in internal systems and workflows.
Support statutory payroll obligations across assigned countries, including government-mandated contributions, tax and reporting requirements, filing deadlines, and local compliance processes.
Respond to payroll queries and provide clear, timely support across LATAM working hours, with some overlap with a South Africa-based team during onboarding.
Liaise with local payroll experts primarily in Spanish and, where relevant, Portuguese; communicate requirements and findings to company stakeholders in English; investigate issues and escalate risks where appropriate.
Support the onboarding of new payroll markets and transitions from external providers to Playroll-managed processes, including process mapping, testing, validation, and operational readiness.
Identify opportunities to improve payroll accuracy, controls, efficiency, and scalability through better processes, documentation, systems, and automation.
Required Skills & Experience
2-5 years of experience as a Payroll Analyst or in payroll operations, payroll processing, payroll implementation, or a related operational/compliance role.
Hands-on experience supporting end-to-end payroll processing, including payroll inputs, calculations, validations, reconciliations, and employee lifecycle changes.
Strong knowledge of payroll practices and statutory requirements in at least one LATAM market (e.g., Argentina, Mexico, Colombia).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate payroll issues and work through detail with accuracy.
Ability to manage multi-country payroll workstreams, deadlines, and stakeholder requirements across LATAM time zones in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Fluent written and spoken English and Spanish.
High attention to detail and a strong sense of ownership.
Strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively.
Comfort working with spreadsheets, process tools, and payroll or operational systems.
Nice to Have
Experience across multiple LATAM jurisdictions (e.g., Argentina and Mexico, or Argentina and Colombia).
Professional proficiency in Brazilian Portuguese.
Relevant qualification such as Chartered Accountant, Bachelor of Commerce, or similar (open to other backgrounds).
Experience with EOR, PEO, or global payroll outsourcing platforms (e.g., Deel, Remote, Oyster, ADP, CloudPay, Safeguard).
Exposure to payroll implementation, in-sourcing, or provider transitions.
Experience with Monday.com or similar process/workflow tools.
We're looking for someone who:
takes ownership of payroll accuracy and compliance;
works independently and proactively across multiple countries and time zones;
