Patient Financial Services Representative


Precision Imaging Centers


Remote | Full-Time


Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM–5:00 PM


Position Summary

Precision Imaging Centers is seeking a Patient Financial Services Representative to join our team. This fully remote position plays an important role in preparing patients for their upcoming diagnostic imaging appointments by helping ensure financial, insurance, authorization, order, and registration requirements are completed before the scheduled visit.

This role involves frequent communication with patients, physician offices, insurance companies, and internal departments. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, comfortable discussing patient financial responsibility, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment while providing compassionate, professional service.


Key Responsibilities

Patient Financial Services

  • Make inbound and outbound calls regarding upcoming appointments and services.
  • Review insurance and account information to determine estimated patient out-of-pocket responsibility.
  • Clearly explain estimated deductibles, copayments, coinsurance, and other financial obligations.
  • Collect patient payments by telephone in accordance with applicable privacy and payment-processing requirements.
  • Accurately document patient conversations, payments, and financial information.

Insurance Authorizations

  • Obtain and process low-modality authorizations as required by insurance plans.
  • Submit authorization requests through payer portals and designated systems.
  • Monitor pending authorizations and follow up to ensure completion before scheduled appointments.
  • Communicate authorization requirements or issues with internal teams and physician offices.
  • Identify and escalate issues that could result in delayed or denied services.

Upcoming Appointment Preparation

  • Review upcoming breast and low-modality examinations to ensure patients are prepared for their scheduled visits.
  • Identify missing orders, authorizations, insurance information, registration requirements, or other necessary documentation.
  • Contact patients and physician offices to obtain missing information.
  • Prioritize work based on appointment date, urgency, authorization requirements, and departmental needs.

Physician Office & Order Follow-Up

  • Contact physician offices regarding missing or incomplete orders.
  • Follow up on outstanding clinical documentation, demographics, insurance information, and other requirements.
  • Verify that orders contain the appropriate information for the scheduled examination.
  • Document all outreach and follow-up activity.

Pre-Registration

  • Verify and update patient demographic and insurance information.
  • Identify and obtain information needed to complete registration.
  • Review appointments for financial, authorization, order, and registration readiness.
  • Work closely with scheduling, registration, authorization, clinical, and financial teams to resolve outstanding issues.

What We're Looking For

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous experience with insurance verification, prior authorizations, patient financial responsibility, medical scheduling, or pre-registration preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organization, time management, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable making a high volume of inbound and outbound telephone calls.
  • Proficiency with computers and standard office applications.
  • Ability to learn and navigate EMR, scheduling, payer, and authorization systems.
  • Professional and compassionate approach when discussing financial obligations with patients.
  • Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.

Performance Expectations

Successful team members in this role are able to:

  • Complete assigned work accurately and within established timeframes.
  • Proactively identify and resolve issues that could delay a patient's appointment.
  • Balance productivity with accuracy and quality.
  • Meet departmental expectations for patient contacts, outbound calls, payment collections, authorization completion, and appointment preparation.
  • Communicate professionally with patients, physician offices, insurance representatives, and coworkers.
  • Collaborate across departments to help reduce preventable delays, cancellations, and denials.

Remote Work Requirements

This is a fully remote position and requires:

  • A dedicated, quiet, and secure home workspace that protects patient privacy and complies with HIPAA requirements.
  • Reliable high-speed internet capable of supporting EMR systems, payer portals, and telephone systems.
  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods and communicate frequently by telephone using a headset.
  • A distraction-free environment during scheduled working hours.
