About the role

The Network Administrator Co-op provides day-to-day IT support for approximately 700 Verndale employees. This role owns the end-to-end process for preparing technology for new hires and managing IT equipment inventory for US operations. The role also troubleshoots employee support requests, maintains laptops and software, supports infrastructure monitoring, and helps employees work effectively, securely, and efficiently within company policies and business priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Own the process of building, configuring, and deploying laptops and required accounts for new hires.
  • Coordinate new-hire equipment readiness so required laptops, docks, accessories, and access are available by the employee’s start date.
  • Own the US IT inventory process, including receiving returned equipment, tracking assets, issuing laptops and docks, and managing equipment returns and exchanges.
  • Support employees through the IT support request system by monitoring, self-assigning, troubleshooting, documenting, and working tickets through completion.
  • Upgrade and maintain employee laptops, operating systems, and software.
  • Respond to security alerts and follow established security and change-control procedures.
  • Monitor systems and networks, validate monitoring alarms, perform first-level troubleshooting, and communicate confirmed issues and events.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, endpoint, and network issues; perform appropriate performance tuning; and escalate issues to vendors or service providers when needed.
  • Maintain accurate records for IT assets and services.
  • Provide written and verbal turnover of open issues, upcoming maintenance, and relevant support activity.
  • Provide clear technical guidance to employees and coordinate with the IT team and other departments when support requests require additional information or action.
  • After becoming familiar with established procedures, independently take ownership of assigned support requests with minimal supervision.
  • Escalate requests that require elevated access, policy decisions, security judgment, unfamiliar procedures, vendor involvement, or authority outside the role’s scope.
  • Work with the IT team to prioritize requests based on employee start dates, urgency, security, business impact, and available resources.
  • Document work clearly so issues, resolutions, equipment status, and follow-up actions are visible to the team.
  • Ask questions when needed while building the knowledge and judgment required to resolve increasingly varied support requests independently

Qualifications

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, or a related field.
  • At least 6 months of experience in IT support, endpoint support, infrastructure operations, or a related area.
