Multiomics Commercial Support Associate – Nordics (Europe North)
This is a fixed‑term maternity leave cover for 12 months.
The Role
As a Multiomics Commercial Support Associate here at Illumina in Europe North, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring continuity of customer engagement and commercial momentum during a period of maternity leave cover. Sitting within the North commercial team, this role acts as an overlay to the field sales organisation, supporting new customer acquisition and field‑led initiatives across the region.
You will be responsible for developing new customer relationships, identifying and qualifying new leads, and maintaining high‑quality day‑to‑day commercial operations through telephone and digital engagement. Working autonomously but collaboratively, you will partner closely with field sales, marketing, sales operations, and regional stakeholders, always acting with a strong sense of accountability and a customer‑first mindset aligned to Illumina’s value of Make Customers Heroes.

Key Responsibilities
Customer Acquisition & Account Development
Generate new business through proactive outbound prospecting, including cold calling
Qualify inbound and outbound sales leads and progress them through to conversion
Retain, grow, and expand existing accounts in close partnership with local account managers
Represent Illumina to customers and advocate internally for customer needs
Generate interest from new‑to‑Illumina customers using multiple sources, including prospect lists, LinkedIn, Google, association websites, AI tools, and independent research
Engage with customers via phone and email, with occasional field travel
Technical & Product Expertise
Apply in‑depth technical knowledge of Illumina products, with a focus on the multi‑omics portfolio
Stay current on industry trends, customer needs, and competitive positioning
Direct customers to appropriate digital tools, resources, and websites to support decision‑making
Collaboration & Relationship Management
Act as an overlay partner to field account managers and sales specialists to support strategic initiatives
Collaborate with internal and external partners to achieve quarterly departmental goals
Communicate qualified leads, contacts, and opportunities to the commercial team and work together to advance and close sales
Conduct baseline account research to identify key stakeholders and critical account information ahead of prospecting activity
Act as a frontline voice for the market, sharing insights on best practices, competitive pressures, and customer feedback
Work cross‑functionally with Marketing, Sales Operations, Field Sales, and Regional Marketing on sourced enquiries and training activities
Actively contribute to Illumina’s collaborative and inclusive team culture
Reporting & Analytics
Document all outbound activity, including industry segmentation and account and lead information
Perform high‑level analytical interpretation using Excel to identify new account targets and opportunities
Prepare sales activity, pipeline, and performance reports as required
Experience & Education
Proven ability to rapidly develop expertise in highly technical products or services
Knowledge of genomics, genotyping, gene expression, sequencing, or multi‑omics
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence internal and external audiences
Exceptional interpersonal skills and a collaborative working style
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Science, Genetics, or a related field required
Master’s or PhD in Genetics or a related discipline is a plus
Strong understanding of relevant markets and sales opportunities
Fluency in English required; additional European languages (Danish, Finnish, Norwegian, Swedish, or Dutch) are desirable but not essential
