AI Summary

You will build and manage outreach processes for retail and partners while automating repetitive marketing tasks using AI tools. Additionally, you will oversee email, SMS, retention programs, and field team support to drive steady growth.

Company Overview:

Our client is a small, founder-led consumer brand based in Austin, TX, that makes a regulated nicotine product (tobacco-free pouches) and sells it direct-to-consumer in the UK. Because Meta, Google, and TikTok all prohibit nicotine advertising, there is no ad budget this company can spend to buy growth — every channel that's left (search, owned email and SMS, subscription retention, referral, retail and trade, athlete and podcast partnerships, field sampling) has to be built and wired together by hand. That constraint is the whole shape of this job.

Your Role:

This is a hands-on marketing generalist role for someone who likes building things, not just planning them. Part of your week goes to using AI tools like Claude Code to connect systems, clean up lists, and automate repetitive work. The rest goes to running campaigns with the sales, field, and partnerships teams. You’ll work directly with the two founders, with plenty of ownership and visibility.

Success looks like:

  • An outreach process for retail and partners that mostly runs on its own

  • A field team that has what it needs and gets better each round

  • Search, email, retention, and referral programs driving steady growth

  • Numbers the whole team can trust

About the category: This is a regulated product, so a few rules are fixed. No health, quit-smoking, or performance claims. All marketing stays 18+ and UK-only. No paid social or paid search. If you enjoy creative problem-solving within clear boundaries, you’ll like it here.

You'll:

  • Build and run outreach to retailers and partners: finding the right contacts, writing the emails, and tracking what works

  • Support the field team with target lists, routes, one-pagers, and follow-up emails after visits

  • Own email and SMS, subscription retention (win-back and pause offers), referral programs, and search/content

  • Create marketing visuals with AI tools, using the brand’s existing look and feel

  • Automate recurring manual tasks so nobody has to do them by hand

  • Track results from the company’s own order and subscription data, and flag anything that looks off

You Bring:

  • Hands-on experience using Claude Code (or a similar AI coding tool) to build something real that’s still in use today. This is the one must-have; most of the rest can be learned on the job

  • 3+ years in marketing. Many great fits started in a coordinator role and taught themselves to pull data or set up tools instead of waiting on someone else

  • Experience running cold email outreach yourself, using a tool like Apollo plus an email sequencing tool

  • Comfort working with spreadsheets and data; SQL is a plus, and getting there with help is fine

  • Some scripting in Python or JavaScript, or experience directing AI to write it for you

  • Familiarity with connecting tools through APIs

  • A good marketing eye and clear, simple writing

Bonus Points:

  • Experience with tools like Apollo, n8n, SQL databases, SEO tools, or AI image tools

  • Marketing experience in a regulated industry (alcohol, supplements, pharma, gambling, etc.)

  • DTC, subscription, or ecommerce experience, especially retention and referral programs

What’s Offered:

  • Based in Austin, TX, or remote with 9–5 CT overlap

  • Work directly with the two founders

  • Real ownership and autonomy over the growth strategy

  • The chance to help build the company’s AI and automation setup from the ground up

  • Compensation based on experience and location

Interview Process:

  • 1️⃣ Apply with a short note naming one thing you've built with Claude Code and what it does today (link it if you can)

  • 2️⃣ Screening call (30 minutes) — walking through that build in detail

  • 3️⃣ Paid exercise (about 3 hours) — given a target segment and API access, produce a scored, enriched contact list, a three-touch sequence, and the script or flow that generated it; one touch has to survive a claims review

  • 4️⃣ Working session with a founder — pick the exercise apart together and build one more thing live in Claude Code
