Every day we approach our work with a sense of purpose, and we look for others who share that passion and desire for a career with impact.   WHO YOU ARE As the Manager, Corporate Relations at AGU, you will play a strategic and versatile role in helping promote discovery in Earth and Space science for the benefit of humanity. You will be a frontline fundraiser and cross-functional partner across AGU, building new corporate partnerships for the organization and directly managing AGU’s Science Innovation Alliance, a network of industry partners who are passionate about supporting AGU’s mission and work. This includes managing a portfolio of current and prospective corporate partners and key relationships across AGU’s programs and departments, which raise funds that advance AGU’s mission. Reporting to the Vice President for Development, you play a critical role in achieving AGU’s fundraising goals. You will work closely with leadership and colleagues in Development, Meetings, Membership, Strategic Communications & Marketing, Finance, and other AGU departments to ensure coordination and alignment across all fundraising and partnership efforts. You must be effective in building internal and external relationships to ensure that corporate partners see value across the whole of the AGU enterprise.   WHAT YOU WILL DO Achieve fundraising partnerships and goals Develop and implement tailored strategies to cultivate, solicit, steward, and close on corporate contributions and revenue generating partnerships to achieve or exceed annual fundraising goals. Help build and coordinate a corporate philanthropy and engagement program to create partnerships across the organization that benefit science and society. Engage with the VP of Development, the Executive VP of Strategic Leadership, and other AGU leaders to identify and deliver a portfolio of unique offerings to corporate partners that builds mutually beneficial relationships. Engage current and potential corporate donors with AGU Contribute to the planning and execution of AGU’s donor events and opportunities to engage corporate partners, such as a corporate roundtable, to maximize funding opportunities and deepen corporate donor relationships. Provide tailored and personalized stewardship to prospective and existing corporate supporters. Contribute to a data-driven fundraising culture Conduct prospect research and pipeline management that moves funding forward. Gather, develop, analyze, and track donor data using Salesforce. Partner with colleagues to maintain accurate records, track metrics, and generate insights. Stay informed of fundraising and philanthropy trends. Serve as an experienced and professional representative for AGU Represent AGU in donor- and partner-facing settings and contribute to internal/external collaborative special projects as needed. Foster a collaborative and innovative culture Demonstrate a positive, can-do attitude while fostering an inclusive, collaborative team environment. Build internal knowledge around AGU’s corporate donors and their interests to identify and create opportunities for donors to engage with and support a variety of AGU offerings Ensure the AGU teams are part of the process of corporate engagement, creating a culture of proactive information sharing and coordination. Embrace creativity, innovation, and continuous learning by experimenting with new ideas, adapting to change, and working across teams. Identify and implement best practices in your work and across the department. Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties in this job classification.   WHAT YOU WILL BRING Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years of progressive fundraising experience, with direct responsibility for managing corporate engagement and major gifts; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Demonstrated experience in nonprofit fundraising and corporate engagement, with a proven ability to develop and execute donor strategies that drive cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship, and consistently closing major gifts and meeting fundraising goals. Skills in researching and understanding prospective donors, combined with critical thinking skills, to deliver highly relevant opportunities for donor support and engagement. Professional communication skills, including excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills with an eye for detail. Demonstrated success working across departments and engaging colleagues at all levels. Experience managing complex projects and meeting multiple deadlines with flexibility and initiative. Sound judgment and discretion when working with sensitive donor or organizational information. Experience in a scientific, knowledge-based or technical setting is a plus, but not required. Familiarity with the philanthropic landscape supporting science, climate issues, and related topics. Flexibility to travel occasionally for donor engagement and events. Working knowledge of Salesforce and prospect research tools. Sound computer skills, including word processing and database management.
