About us
Fuller (The Fuller Project) is an award-winning global newsroom dedicated to publishing groundbreaking reporting that catalyzes positive change for women and gender-diverse people. Since 2015, our reporting has helped end life-threatening practices, led to large-scale releases of public data and prompted the introduction of new legislation.
About the role
We are looking to contract an editor with experience commissioning investigations and enterprise features, and a demonstrable interest in gender equity issues, for nine months of maternity leave cover (with the possibility of extension to 12 months), starting in mid-September 2026.
Fuller’s new editorial strategy sets out to diversify our content formats, routes to audience, partnerships and impact measures. With the exception of special reporting projects, investigations and social-first video journalism, most of our journalism is delivered through an edition model – we publish on average six editions per year.
Reporting into the editor-in-chief and working closely with all members of our editorial team, the lead editor plays a central role ideating, commissioning for and overseeing the rollout of each edition, ensuring originality, high editorial quality, visual and thematic coherence, impact and engagement across all formats.
With experience in impact and gender-focused journalism, the lead editor is expected to commission, edit and fact-check enterprise features, investigations and engaging journalism on issues that disproportionately affect women, girls and gender minorities around the world. They will also edit newsletters and should be able to provide guidance on video and audio scripts.
As a small, distributed newsroom with a specialist expertise, Fuller relies heavily on the contributions of freelance journalists and creators, as well as co-publication partnerships with other media from around the world. The editor is expected to build and maintain strong relationships with multimedia contributors and newsroom collaborators across our main coverage areas (tech, health, labor, conflict and climate) and edition themes. Externally, the editor represents Fuller at events, speaking to our model, mission and journalism.
