About the role

The Lead Clinical Instructor is an experienced mental health clinician responsible for the development and delivery of clinical training for Equip’s provider teams and people management of the Clinical Supervisors. The Lead Clinical Instructor will have proficiency with Equip’s three major treatment modalities (CBT-AR, CBT-E, FBT). This is a highly collaborative role, and as part of Equip’s provider training program, will work closely with Clinical Training & Supervision team leadership, Clinical Instructors, Clinical Supervisors, Training Operations, Instructional Designers, and Care Delivery leaders. The role’s responsibilities will include designing highly effective live and e-learning training courses and resources, auditing/reviewing existing live and e-learning courses and resources, providing live video review and feedback sessions to providers, clinical supervision of licensed and pre-licensed therapists, people management of Clinical Supervisors, leading routine Clinical Instructor and Supervisor meetings and peer consultation, serving as an SME within the department and cross-functionally, and administrative tasks associated with all responsibilities.

The Lead Clinical Instructor is a leader and champion of Equip. They are engaging interpersonally, have excellent public speaking skills, work well in teams, are experienced in a variety of training modalities (e.g., didactic, role play, video review, supervision), and motivated by the ultimate goal of training providers to deliver high quality evidence-based treatments for eating disorders so that everyone can achieve lasting recovery. They are a representative of the training team, skilled in enhancing professional connections through cross-functional and external collaborations.

For this position, the Lead Clinical Instructor (Therapy) must demonstrate proficiency in Equip’s three main treatment modalities (CBT-E, FBT, CBT-AR) with mastery in at least one of the three main modalities.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively manage a team of Clinical Supervisors, including setting performance expectations, providing continuous feedback, writing and delivering performance reviews, and initiating performance improvement plans when necessary.

  • Lead team meetings and peer consultation for Clinical Instructors & Clinical Supervisors as needed.

  • Under the direction of team leadership, design, deliver, and review live, internal trainings for a multidisciplinary team of providers, including mental health professionals, registered dietitians, peer support workers, and medical professionals.

  • Collaborate with Care Delivery leaders and Equip providers to identify training needs.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in collaboration with Instructional Designers to provide clinical content for e-learning courses, review and audit e-learning courses, fidelity rubrics, and other departmental and cross-functional resources.

  • Design, update and iterate on training materials and resources to support live trainings and e-learning courses.

  • Provide evidence-based supervision and complete fidelity reviews through Equip’s certification program.

  • Review session recordings and deliver live feedback to providers.

  • Complete administrative tasks related to the scheduling and organization of Equip training sessions, tracking of new provider performance metrics, evaluation of Equip providers, and other responsibilities.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Doctoral degree in a clinical mental health or related field

  • Licensed in a clinical mental health field (PhD, PsyD, LMFT, LCSW, LPCC, etc.) in at least one state; eligible for licensure in additional states

  • Minimum of 3 years providing clinical supervision in evidence-based treatments

  • Demonstrated ability to operate as a leader and mentor to Clinical Supervisors

  • Experience as a people manager, including but not limited to evaluations, performance reviews, and professional development conversations

  • Demonstrated completion of training in one of Equip’s three major treatment modalities (CBT-E, FBT, CBT-AR); expertise in CBT-E is preferred

  • Demonstrated experience with live training and course development

  • Minimum of 2 years of practice in delivering the treatment modality of expertise

  • Experience in the use of evidence-based treatment for other eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder, and/or binge eating disorder

  • Extensive demonstrated experience leading live trainings, either in-person or online.

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills

  • Strong public speaking skills

  • Proven ability to use Powerpoint or Google Slides

  • Organized, detail-oriented, and results-driven

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced environment, subject to rapid change and innovation

Compensation

  • Earning Potential Range: $117,000 to $130,000 Annually + 15% Annual Performance-Based Bonus Potential.

Other Benefits

Licensing:

  • Equip reimburses fees associated with initial licensure and license renewals (e.g., exam fees, application to the state board, exam study materials, etc.) for any Equip-required licenses and/or cross-licensure requests.

Work From Home Additional Perks:

  • $50/month stipend added directly to an employee’s paycheck to cover home internet expenses.

  • Initial work-from-home stipend of up to $500.

    • Reload of $200 on the home office stipend at the 3-year mark and then every other year after that (year 5, year 7, etc.).

  • Company Laptop.

Physical Demands

Work is performed 100% from home with no requirement to travel. This is a stationary position that requires the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards as well as to talk or hear by telephone. Sit or stand as needed.
