The accountant will manage end-to-end bookkeeping, payroll processing, and financial record maintenance for a Canadian company. They are also responsible for preparing financial reports, managing accounts payable/receivable, and assisting with budgeting and process improvements.
Job Summary
We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant based in India to support the day-to-day accounting and finance operations of our Canadian company. The ideal candidate will be responsible for bookkeeping, payroll processing, invoicing, financial record management, and establishing efficient financial processes and controls. This role requires someone who can work independently, maintain accuracy, and ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
Experience with budgeting, cost estimation, and preparing customer quotations will be considered a strong advantage.
Key Responsibilities
Manage end-to-end bookkeeping and maintain accurate financial records.
Process payroll accurately and on time.
Prepare and issue invoices, track receivables, and follow up on outstanding payments.
Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Perform bank and credit card reconciliations.
Prepare monthly financial reports, including profit & loss statements and balance sheets.
Assist in setting up and improving accounting systems, financial processes, internal controls, and standard operating procedures.
Ensure compliance with applicable accounting principles, tax requirements, and company policies.
Maintain organized financial documentation and records.
Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and management as required.
Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
Monitor cash flow and provide financial insights to management.
Assist with budgeting, financial planning, and expense analysis.
Prepare cost estimates and customer quotations when required (preferred).
Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and financial reporting.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Commerce, or a related field.
2–5 years of accounting and bookkeeping experience.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
Experience processing payroll.
Proficiency with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Zoho Books, Sage, or similar platforms.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
Ability to work independently in a remote environment while collaborating effectively with a Canadian team.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with Canadian companies or Canadian accounting practices.
Familiarity with Canadian payroll, GST/HST, and financial reporting requirements.
Experience preparing budgets, forecasts, and financial analyses.
Experience creating customer quotations, pricing models, and project cost estimates.
Knowledge of process improvement and financial automation tools.
