Instructional Designer (Part Time)

Job Summary
The Instructional Designer is a key member of NAPA’s Learning & Development team. Partnering with L&D Managers, subject matter experts (SMEs), and business stakeholders, this role creates engaging, practical learning experiences that help team members build skills, perform with confidence, and grow in their roles.
The Instructional Designer translates business needs and technical expertise into clear, accessible, and effective instructor-led, virtual, digital, and blended learning solutions. This role supports the full learning content lifecycle—from needs analysis and design through development, launch, evaluation, maintenance, and retirement—to deliver high-quality learning that supports growing personal and business performance with measurable impact.
Responsibilities

Learning Design & Content Development

• Apply adult learning theory and instructional design methodologies to create engaging learning solutions that drive adoption, performance improvement, and business results.
• Use learner-centered design and approved authoring tools to develop instructor-led, virtual instructor-led, e-learning, microlearning, video, job aids, facilitator guides, participant materials, and other learning resources.
• Write clear, measurable learning objectives, curriculum outlines, scripts, storyboards, knowledge checks, assessments, and evaluation tools aligned to performance outcomes.
• Translate complex operational, technical, and business content into accurate, accessible, and learner-friendly training materials.
• Ensure learning assets meet NAPA standards for instructional quality, accessibility, branding, usability, and LMS deployment.
• Partnership & Subject Matter Expert Collaboration
• Partner with L&D Managers to design, develop, launch, maintain, and improve learning solutions that support business-unit and enterprise priorities.
• Collaborate with SMEs, facilitators, business leaders, and cross-functional partners to identify learner needs, validate content, and deliver accurate, on-target learning solutions.
• Lead content-development discussions to clarify critical job tasks, performance expectations, learner needs, and operational requirements.
• Manage stakeholder feedback, review cycles, approvals, and scope to maintain progress and meet project timelines.

Project Management & Quality Assurance

• Manage assigned design and development deliverables, timelines, dependencies, and review cycles as an active member of cross-functional project teams.
• Balance multiple projects and changing priorities while delivering high-quality work within established timelines.
• Maintain organized source files, version control, documentation, and approval records in accordance with content-governance standards.
• Conduct quality-assurance reviews to confirm content accuracy, instructional integrity, functionality, accessibility, visual consistency, and alignment to learning objectives.
• Identify risks, delays, and content gaps early and proactively communicate project status.

Learning Measurement & Continuous Improvement

• Use business and L&D data and feedback to identify learning barriers and improve learner experience, adoption, and training effectiveness.
• Develop and maintain knowledge checks, assessments, surveys, and evaluation tools that measure comprehension, satisfaction, and application.
• Stay current on instructional design practices, learning technologies, and approved AI-enabled tools to improve quality, accessibility, efficiency, and learner engagement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Education, Learning & Development, Communications, Business, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
• Three or more years of instructional design, e-learning, curriculum development, or talent development experience.
• Knowledge of adult learning theory, instructional design models, learner-centered design, and assessment practices.
• Experience developing instructor-led, virtual, and digital learning solutions.
• Proficiency with e-learning authoring, presentation, and multimedia tools; Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, Synthesia, or similar tools preferred.
• Experience partnering with SMEs and stakeholders to develop practical learning content and manage feedback.
• Strong project management, organization, writing, and attention to detail; LMS experience required, with Workday Learning preferred.
