Description
We are looking for an HR Generalist to be the engine behind our day-to-day People operations. This is a hands-on, do-it-all role for someone who loves getting things done and getting the details right. You will help bring great people in the door, run the day-to-day of people operations, keep our benefits and leave programs humming, and help shape a culture people want to be part of.
You will report to and work closely with our Chief of Staff. If you like taking a clear process and running it flawlessly, and you take pride in getting the small things exactly right, you will fit in well here.
Key Responsibilities
Recruiting and Talent
- Source candidates across channels and help build healthy pipelines for open roles
- Screen applicants and run early conversations to surface the strongest fits
- Coordinate and schedule interviews across candidates and hiring managers, keeping the process moving and the candidate experience polished
- Keep our applicant tracking system current and communicate with candidates promptly at every stage
People Operations
- Own onboarding and offboarding end to end, so every new hire has a great first week and every departure is handled cleanly
- Maintain accurate employee records and keep our HRIS current as our single source of truth
- Be the first point of contact for everyday employee questions on policies, benefits, and time off
- Support payroll inputs and ensure changes are captured accurately and on time
- Help maintain and improve the employee handbook and internal policy documentation
Benefits and Leave
- Manage company perks and stipends end to end, including enrollment, renewals, and eligibility
- Run leave of absence programs from start to finish, including intake, documentation, communication with employees, and coordination with payroll
- Serve as a knowledgeable, calm resource for employees navigating leave during important life moments
Culture and Engagement
- Plan and run recurring team programming, events, and recognition that strengthen connection across the team
- Support company offsites and in-person gatherings from logistics to follow-through
- Gather employee feedback and help turn it into action
Compliance Support
- Partner with our PEO to keep everyday HR practices aligned with federal, state, and local requirements
- Apply a working understanding of FMLA and paid family leave, including New York Paid Family Leave, so employees feel supported through leave
- Keep employee records and documentation accurate and well organized
What we are looking for
- Around 3 years in an HR generalist, people operations, or HR coordinator role, ideally including time at a startup or another fast-paced environment
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources from an accredited institution
- Experience supporting recruiting, including sourcing, screening, and coordinating interviews
- Familiarity with FMLA and paid family leave such as New York Paid Family Leave, and comfort supporting employees through leave with empathy and care
- A genuine interest in culture building, from team events to recognition to the small touches that make a team feel like a team
- Exceptional attention to detail. You catch the small errors before they become problems, and your documents and records are clean
- Strong written communication and discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information
- Comfort working independently, staying organized across competing priorities, and following through reliably
