Position Summary

The Infusion Billing Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely billing of home infusion services from delivery ticket confirmation through final claim submission. This position works closely with Pharmacy, Collections, and other Revenue Cycle Management teams to ensure claims are submitted correctly, reimbursement issues are resolved quickly, and revenue cycle goals are achieved.

This is not a general medical billing position. Candidates must have prior Home Infusion billing experience and a strong understanding of infusion reimbursement, payer requirements, NDC billing, and HCFA 1500 claim submission processes.

What You'll Do

• Review and follow up on open pharmacy delivery tickets to ensure accurate and timely billing
• Monitor billing hold reports and resolve claim-related issues
• Prepare and submit electronic and paper HCFA 1500 claims
• Work rejected claims queues in Waystar and resolve issues for prompt resubmission
• Research, correct, and resubmit billing claims as needed
• Respond to questions from Collections and other internal departments
• Review claims for billing accuracy, including:
• Payer requirements
• Medical coding
• NDC numbers
• Billing units
• Quantities
• Infusion supplies
• Maintain knowledge of payer reimbursement policies and regulations
• Identify billing issues and determine appropriate solutions
• Maintain accurate documentation of billing activity
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all federal, state, and payer requirements
• Maintain patient confidentiality and privacy at all times

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of 5 years of healthcare industry experience
• Direct Home Infusion billing experience required
• Strong knowledge of healthcare reimbursement and third-party payer requirements
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Working knowledge of ICD-10 coding
• Experience preparing and submitting insurance claims
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel

Preferred Qualifications

• Medical coding experience
• Knowledge of NDC numbers and infusion billing methodologies
• Experience billing for immune globulin (IVIG/SCIG) therapies
• Experience with infusion supplies and billing unit calculations
• Experience using Waystar or similar claims management platforms
• Specialty pharmacy or infusion revenue cycle experience
