Custom Truck One Source (CTOS) is hiring a Remote Heavy Duty Equipment Technician to support customers across Northern Ontario.

If you are a driven 421A Heavy Duty Equipment Technician, Red Seal Technician, or hold a related Journeyperson trade certification, we want to hear from you.

  • This position is ideal for a technician who enjoys working independently, solving complex equipment issues in the field, and traveling to customer locations.
  • Candidates should be based in the Greater Sudbury or Timmins, Ontario area, with responsibility for servicing customers throughout Northern Ontario.

What You'll Work On

You will perform maintenance, diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repairs on CTOS equipment, including Bucket Trucks, Boom Trucks, Aerial Lift Equipment, Digger Derricks Forestry Equipment, Hi-Rail Equipment, Utility and Vocational Trucks and Related hydraulic, electrical, and diesel-powered equipment

Travel Requirements

  • Approximately 75% overnight travel throughout Northern Ontario
  • Primarily Monday through Friday
  • Home most weekends

Qualifications

  • Ontario Journeyperson Skilled Trades Certificate or Red Seal certification
  • Valid Class G or Class D driver's license
  • Ability to travel extensively throughout assigned territory
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and troubleshooting skills
  • Must supply own hand tools
  • Strong customer service and communication skills

Preferred Experience

  • CVIP (Commercial Vehicle Inspection Program)
  • Hydraulic and electrical diagnostics
  • Reading and interpreting electrical schematics and blueprints
  • Welding and fabrication experience
  • Experience with QuickServe, DTNA, or similar diagnostic software
  • ANSI and Dielectric Testing certifications or experience

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair utility trucks and specialized equipment in both shop and field environments
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections and scheduled service
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, repair orders, and technical documentation
  • Utilize laptops and diagnostic software to identify and resolve equipment issues
  • Service and repair hydraulic, electrical, mechanical, and diesel engine systems
  • Conduct inspections and complete repairs according to CTOS standards
  • Verify repairs and road-test equipment when required
  • Complete inspection reports, repair orders, timecards, and service documentation accurately
  • Tag and process warranty and core return parts
  • Communicate repair progress and additional repair needs to management
  • Communicate professionally with customers to minimize downtime and maximize equipment uptime
  • Participate in CTOS and manufacturer-sponsored safety and technical training
  • Adhere to all federal, provincial, and local safety and environmental regulations
  • Support customer satisfaction initiatives and maintain positive customer relationships
  • Travel outside the primary territory when business needs require
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Basic Requirements

  • High School Diploma, or equivalent
  • Journeyperson or Red Seal certification in Heavy Equipment, or a related trade preferred
  • Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to lift and maneuver tools and parts safely
  • Ability to frequently stoop, bend, kneel, squat, climb, and work in varying weather conditions
