The Health Representative Manager is responsible for achieving sales quotas within an assigned geographic area by effectively managing human and material resources. They lead, coach, and develop a team of representatives while maintaining strong relationships with key customers to meet organizational objectives.

Broad Function:
- Responsible for ensuring achievement of sales quota of assigned geographic area, team & products portfolio on monthly, quarterly and yearly basis through effective sales management and utilization of both human and material resources available to him.
- Leads by example—personally demonstrates the core behaviors, skills, knowledge, and traits that representatives need to be successful.
- Responsible for developing and maintaining good relationships with key customers of his/her area to achieve their objectives.
- Raise performance of representatives by coaching, learning and development initiatives and setting high performance standards that are perceived by representatives as being challenging but achievable.
- Understands that representatives and customers have individual needs and styles and respect these differences.
Principle Responsibilities:
- Ensure that sales targets for each member of his/her team are achieved on monthly basis. In case these are not achieved, necessary remedial actions are planned and implanted with immediate effect.
- Ensures availability of weekly/period wise sales of territories of his/her PSRs and review them in the periodically scheduled meetings.
- Ensures PSR calls on all targeted doctors and key retailers as per the plan. Reviews of the Contact Record List and calls made on them in the scheduled meetings.
- Ensures working together with all PSRs at per MBOs for coaching on the job and assessment of his/her training needs and submit coaching form through VEEVA application.
- Ensures allocation of territories to the PSRs based on time and territory management principle.
- Approves proper and cost-effective doctors/chemist’s coverage program & monthly itineraries of PSRs. Also, ensure that itineraries are strictly followed.
- Ensures proper coverage of customers (retail/wholesale/chain/hospital pharmacies) and tendering authorities by the respective distributors through holding meetings with their managers and salesmen at frequent intervals. Also checks if the salesmen possess the adequate knowledge of his/her products.
- Ensures to keep his/her team motivated by timely recognition and rewards. Keeps prompt follow-up of their quires and handles grievances of his/her team members to their utmost satisfaction.
- Ensure to conduct assigned Speaker Programs, RTDs, Ward activities and other scientific promotional meetings in compliance with MAPP with the help and coordination of Medical and Marketing departments.
- Ensure to comply with commercial policies and procedures related to tender & contracting and interactions with business partners
- Ensures prompt reporting of any adverse drug reaction in his/her district to the medical department.
- Ensures expenses remain within prescribed limits if otherwise, ensure proper written approval from SM. Also ensures the submission of monthly expenses of his/her team members within scheduled time.
- Ensures top class product and competitive knowledge with every member of his team by allocating adequate time in weekly meetings of the field force & joint visits.
- Assess training needs of his/her PSRs and communicate on quarterly basis to SM and training department to bridge the gap in competencies.
- Maintains a list of top 30-50 doctors in his/her area and ensures at least one professional call to them in a month either alone or with the PSR.
- Anticipates hiring needs and takes a proactive approach to recruitment & selection.
- Selects top-performing representatives that evolve into top candidates who are eligible for additional responsibilities within organization.
- Use representatives’ business plan and/or previously identified goals as a coaching tool when in the field.
- Works with representatives on an ongoing basis to identify opportunities for learning that address their immediate and longer-term individual development needs.
- Coaches’ representatives to develop their own work styles, skill sets, and formulas for success as per standard of organization.
- Consistently encourages increased representative autonomy (e.g., supports representatives as they confront issues and accept ownership of their actions).
- Help representatives assume increasing levels of leadership responsibilities.
- Effectively models how representatives should give and seek constructive feedback.
- Incorporates personal experience and other representative experience (where appropriate) into coaching sessions.
- Helps people realize their own potential (e.g., communicates the strengths of promotable representatives to SM, gives credit to individuals rather than taking it for himself/herself, etc.).
- Emphasizes representatives’ strengths and positive behaviors when providing feedback.
- Help representatives identify opportunities within the career development programs & develop skills so that it will strengthen their ability to impact results and advance their careers.
- Coordinates career development planning with long-term succession planning.
Academic Qualification:
- Science / business Graduate. MBA will be an advantage.
Professional Experience:
- Minimum 8 years’ experience in Pharmaceutical Sales with successful track record. Specialty working will be an advantage.
