The Head of Marketing will lead the marketing function, setting strategy across brand, positioning, product marketing, and growth. They will manage a lean team and collaborate closely with sales, product, and leadership to drive pipeline and establish the company's voice.

Head of Marketing

About our Company

Government’s biggest challenges — homelessness, election administration, emergency response — don’t get solved inside a single agency. Work happens across dozens of organizations that often struggle to coordinate, share information, and act in real time.

Civic Roundtable is an AI-powered government operations platform that helps public servants do exactly that. We give wide networks of agencies and partner organizations the tools to consolidate information, coordinate mission-critical work, and move faster together so the people on the frontlines of public problems have what they need to serve their communities.

Trusted by thousands of organizations across all 50 states, Civic Roundtable emerged from the Harvard Innovation Labs and is backed by General Catalyst.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Head of Marketing to lead the marketing function for Civic Roundtable’s next stage of growth.

You’ll set the strategy across brand, positioning, product marketing, growth, and field marketing, while building on a strong foundation already in place. You’ll lead a lean team that includes a growth marketer who owns demand generation and field marketing and a marketing designer, and work directly with our founders, Sales, Product, and customer-facing teams.

This is a hands-on leadership role. We’re looking for someone who can set direction, help the team do its best work, and jump in where they can add the most leverage — whether that’s sharpening our positioning, developing a major campaign, shaping our event strategy, supporting a strategic deal, or helping us understand what’s actually creating pipeline.

You’ll report directly to the CEO and be the senior marketing voice on the leadership team. This role can be remote, with a preference for candidates based in Boston or New York.

What You’ll Do

  • Own our brand and positioning — Turn a complex product and emerging category into a simple, compelling story about what Civic Roundtable is, why it matters, and why now.

  • Turn customer and product momentum into great marketing — Translate customer stories, product launches, and proof points into campaigns, content, thought leadership, and sales materials.

  • Set our growth strategy — Partner closely with our growth marketer to identify the audiences, channels, campaigns, and investments most likely to create qualified pipeline, and help connect what we learn back to company and GTM strategy.

  • Build a differentiated field strategy — Work with our growth marketer and sales team to make conferences, roundtables, dinners, partnerships, and other in-person moments a powerful part of how we build relationships and grow accounts.

  • Make marketing a true partner to sales — Work closely with our sales team on strategic accounts, messaging, enablement, and campaigns that help us open, close, and expand government relationships.

  • Build our category and voice — Use thought leadership, PR, partnerships, and creative campaigns to establish Civic Roundtable as a defining voice in modern government operations and AI.

  • Lead and grow the marketing team — Set clear priorities, coach and develop the team, create the conditions for great work, and determine where we should invest as the company scales.

What We’re Looking For

  • 8+ years in marketing at high-growth companies — You’ve helped build marketing at an early- or growth-stage B2B software company and understand what it takes to scale a marketing function as the company grows.

  • Exceptional brand and positioning instincts — You can take something complicated and make it feel obvious, differentiated, and memorable. You know how to sharpen a company story as the product and market evolve.

  • Strong product marketing and storytelling skills — You know how to get close to customers and product, find the insight that matters, and turn it into messaging, launches, campaigns, and content that resonate.

  • Deep understanding of growth — You know how to build pipeline in a relationship-driven enterprise market through ABM, field marketing, events, partnerships, and demand generation. You can identify what works, make it repeatable, and partner closely with Sales on growth strategy.

  • A hands-on builder — You’re not looking to manage marketing from a distance. You’re excited to personally write and edit copy, dig into campaign performance, work in HubSpot, build a deck, shape an event, or jump into a strategic account alongside the team. You know when to lead, when to coach, and when to roll up your sleeves and do the work yourself.

  • A strong people leader and collaborator — You know how to set direction for talented functional owners, give them room to own their work, and make them better. You build strong partnerships across Sales, Product, and customer-facing teams.

  • High agency and startup energy — You bring structure to ambiguity, move quickly, and are comfortable with a lean team, imperfect information, and building the process while doing the work.

  • AI-native and tool-fluent — You actively use and experiment with AI in your own work and are excited to help the team do the same. You look for ways to use AI, automation, analytics, and new tools to help a small team operate with outsized impact.

Why You’ll Love Working @ Civic Roundtable

  • You’ll have a competitive salary, meaningful equity, health benefits, and flexible work arrangements as part of an early-stage, fast-growing team.

  • You’ll have real ownership. You’ll work directly with the founders and leadership team and have significant influence over how we tell our story, build our category, and grow the company.

  • You’ll inherit a talented, lean team with room to shape how the function grows, rather than starting from scratch or stepping into a large organization with an established playbook.

  • You’ll have an unusual amount of raw material to work with: passionate customers, hundreds of proof points and stories, strong market momentum, and a product that solves real and urgent problems.

  • You’ll help define a new category at the intersection of government operations, collaboration, and AI — and shape how the market understands what modern government software can look like.

  • You’ll build, ship, learn, and iterate quickly. You’ll have the autonomy to try ambitious ideas, see what works, and build the marketing organization you believe this company needs.

  • Most importantly, you’ll build marketing for a product that helps public servants do some of the country’s most important work, from helping veterans find housing to preparing communities for emergencies.

We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status. If you’re excited to build an exceptional brand and growth engine while helping government work better, we want to hear from you!
