We are expanding into Salary Backed Products — a high-growth credit segment where loan repayments are automatically deducted from employees' payroll, drastically reducing credit risk and unlocking access for underserved borrowers. We are looking for a seasoned Head of Business Development to lead our go-to-market, build employer and partner pipelines, and scale this vertical across Mexico.
This is a founding role for the product line — you will define the distribution strategy, forge partnerships with employers and HR platforms, and work closely with Product, Risk, and Technology to make payroll-integrated credit a reality at scale. We are looking for someone who has done this before — either at a payroll bank or a fintech with deep employer integrations.
Own the full commercial strategy for Salary Backed Products in Mexico
Identify, negotiate, and close partnerships with employers, HR platforms, and payroll system providers (e.g., Nómina integrations, HRMS vendors)
Build and manage a pipeline of corporate clients, prioritizing scale and payroll volume
Drive integration agreements with employers and accounting/ERP systems to enable automatic deduction flows
Collaborate with Product and Tech teams to define integration requirements and employer onboarding flows
Develop pricing, risk, and commission frameworks alongside Finance and Risk teams
Represent Novacard in the market — events, conferences, and industry networks
Build and lead a business development team as the vertical scales
Track and report on key commercial metrics: employer pipeline, activation rates, disbursement volumes, delinquency by segment
We are exclusively interested in experienced local professionals with hands-on knowledge of the Salary Backed / Nómina lending business in Mexico. Ideal candidates come from:
Banks with payroll/salary infrastructure, such as:
BBVA Mexico · Banorte · Santander Mexico · Citibanamex · Inbursa · Banco Azteca · BanCoppel
Fintechs with employer/payroll integrations, such as:
Minu · Klinc · Monto · Pulpi · ePesos · Dey · Paynom · Akiba (or similar players in the earned wage access / salary-backed credit space)
Required:
5+ years of experience in Business Development, Partnerships, or Commercial roles in financial services in Mexico
Direct experience with Salary Backed Loans, Nómina Credits, or Earned Wage Access (EWA) products
Established network among HR leaders, CFOs, payroll managers, and/or payroll software vendors
Understanding of payroll deduction mechanics, employer liability, and regulatory framework (CNBV, CONDUSEF)
Proven track record of closing and managing B2B2C distribution deals
Strong negotiation and stakeholder management skills
Fluent Spanish; English B2+ is a plus
Nice to have:
Experience with API-based integrations to HRMS / ERP / payroll systems (SAP, Workday, CONTPAQi, Aspel)
Experience scaling a credit product from 0 to volume in Mexico
Leadership ownership of a new, high-potential product vertical
