Global Payroll Operations Specialist - Mexico

About the role

We're looking for an experienced payroll specialist to join Rippling’s Global Payroll Operations team. We are rapidly expanding Rippling to serve the needs of employees and employers all over the world.  Our Global Payroll Operations team plays a critical role in ensuring the success of our global payroll products, which are natively built and fully integrated with Rippling’s broader suite of products.

As Rippling expands its product offerings globally, there is a critical business need for Rippling to develop new muscles around global product operations and country-specific payroll expertise outside of the US.

This role, Global Payroll Operations Specialist, is a critical hire for the Global Payroll Operations team that will be fully dedicated to developing and executing these new capabilities. This role will own all operational aspects across select countries, relationships with our external partners, and drive our expansion into new customer segments and geographies. Additionally, this role brings critical country-specific payroll expertise to support the development of our natively built payroll software.

This is an exciting role that requires significant cross-departmental engagement with a major impact on the product and customer experience.

What you will do

• Own the full-cycle payroll processing and monthly/bimonthly statutory compliance for Mexican entities.
• Perform monthly and bimonthly reconciliation between internal payroll registers and statutory reporting (SUA vs. IDSE vs. EMA/EBA).
• Calculate, validate, and upload monthly ISN filings per state regulations and ensure timely payment generation (SIPARE / state treasury lines of capture).
• Process all employee movements (Avisos Patronales: altas, bajas, modificación de salarios) in IDSE/SUA within statutory timeframes.
• Calculate bimonthly wage variability for variable and mixed-salary employees to update the SDI/SBC accurately.
• Serve as the primary subject-matter expert (SME) for clients regarding Mexican labor law, ISR withholdings, IMSS/INFONAVIT regulations, and statutory reporting requirements.
• Drive issue resolution and communication with various government agencies and partners; you will directly interface with our customers and resolve issues on their behalf
• Work closely with Global Payroll Engineering and Product teams to ensure that:
• • Natively built payroll software supports key payroll and tax compliance requirements
  • Product bugs and product issues (e.g., calculation errors, file generation errors) are quickly addressed
  • Internal tooling requirements are properly prioritized and implemented

What you will need

• 4+ years in a global or end-to-end Mexican payroll processing role.
• 2+ years in a direct client-facing or advisory role.
• Deep, hands-on expertise in Mexico Statutory Filings & Compliance, with proven mastery in managing and executing:
• • Social Security & Housing Portals: Hands-on mastery of IMSS, IDSE, SUA, SIPARE, and INFONAVIT / FONACOT portals for movement registrations and payment line generation.
  • Monthly & Bimonthly Reconciliations: Processing and validating EMA (Emisión Mensual Automatizada) and EBA (Emisión Bimensual Automatizada).
  • State Payroll Taxes (ISN): Execution, calculation, and reporting of ISN (Impuesto Sobre Nóminas) directly in the corresponding state treasury portals 
  • Confrontas & Audits: Performing monthly Confrontas (cross-referencing SUA vs. IDSE vs. EMA/EBA vs. Internal Payroll registers).
  • Social Security Calculations: Expertise in calculating Bimonthly Wage Variability (Variabilidad bimestral de salarios), updating SDI/SBC, and managing statutory leave entitlements (Maternity, Occupational Hazards, General Illness).
• Experience running in-house payroll utilizing major Mexican payroll engines 
• Strong numerical review skills: Ability to review, validate, and audit net pay, tax withholdings (ISR), and social security deductions down to the peso.
• Proficiency in tools: Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills for data analysis and audits (vlookups, pivot tables, data reconciliations); familiarity with ticketing and management tools (Salesforce, JIRA, Confluence) is a plus.
• Bonus: Hands-on experience processing payroll in other LATAM countries (e.g., Colombia, Chile, Argentina, Brazil).
• Fluent in Spanish and English - written and spoken (C1 level English or higher preferred)
