An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced fleet maintenance professional to oversee Downer's national light vehicle supplier network across Australia.

This role can be based anywhere in Australia, with flexible working arrangements available.

Reporting to the Fleet Maintenance Manager External - ANZ, you will be responsible for driving supplier performance, maintenance quality, compliance, safety, fleet reliability and customer outcomes across our light vehicle fleet. Working closely with workshops, dealerships, suppliers and internal stakeholders, you'll ensure vehicles remain safe, compliant, available and fit for purpose while delivering commercial value and operational excellence. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and optimise Downer's national light vehicle maintenance supplier network.
  • Monitor supplier performance, service levels, maintenance quality and compliance outcomes.
  • Drive fleet reliability, minimise vehicle downtime and improve customer experience.
  • Conduct audits, inspections and quality assurance reviews across supplier networks.
  • Analyse maintenance data, repair trends and supplier performance to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Monitor repair and maintenance expenditure and support financial governance processes.
  • Support fleet asset management, compliance, telematics initiatives and capital planning activities.
  • Build strong relationships with suppliers, customers and operational stakeholders.
  • Champion Zero Harm, safety leadership and continuous improvement initiatives. 

 

What You'll Bring

  • Mechanical Trade Qualification or tertiary qualification in Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain, Business or a related discipline.
  • Strong experience managing light vehicle maintenance operations and supplier networks.
  • Knowledge of fleet maintenance, workshop operations, compliance and asset lifecycle management.
  • Proven ability to manage supplier performance, maintenance quality and customer outcomes.
  • Strong commercial, financial reporting and analytical skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication and problem-solving capability.
  • Experience working with workshops, dealerships, repair networks and fleet service providers.
