Fixed Assets Business Manager

About the role

Riot is seeking a Fixed Asset Business Manager to establish and manage the operating model that connects data center asset operations, maintenance activity, project execution, and fixed asset accounting.

In this role, you will architect the business processes, data standards, controls, and integrations required to translate changes in the physical asset environment within the CMMS platform, Nuvolo into complete, timely, and supportable fixed asset records in the ERP system, NetSuite. You will serve as the primary business partner between the Data Center Asset Manager and the Senior Fixed Asset Accountant, ensuring that asset additions, replacements, upgrades, maintenance activities, transfers, retirements, and disposals are properly identified, classified, documented, and routed for accounting treatment.

This role does not own the operational asset-management strategy or perform fixed asset accounting activities such as capitalization entries and depreciation processing in NetSuite. Instead, you will own the connective tissue between those functions: defining how asset events originate in Nuvolo, how relevant information is captured and validated, and how it flows to NetSuite for accounting review and processing.

What you'll do

• Design, implement, and continuously improve the end-to-end process linking physical asset activity, work orders, maintenance records, and asset lifecycle events in the CMMS platform, Nuvolo to fixed asset records in the ERP system, NetSuite.
• Partner with the Data Center Asset Manager to align Nuvolo asset hierarchy, asset identifiers, tagging standards, classification schemes, location data, and lifecycle-status requirements with NetSuite fixed asset reporting and accounting needs.
• Partner with the Senior Fixed Asset Accountant to translate NetSuite fixed asset and accounting requirements into practical Nuvolo workflows, mandatory data fields, supporting documentation, and system controls.
• Lead the business requirements, process design, testing, implementation, and ongoing enhancement of integrations and interfaces between Nuvolo and NetSuite.
• Work with IT, platform, data, and system owners to define CMMS-to-ERP data mappings, integration triggers, validation rules, error handling, data ownership, and controls.
• Establish mechanisms to connect work orders, maintenance activities, component replacements, commissioning events, and decommissioning activity to the relevant physical asset and corresponding EPR fixed asset record, where applicable.
• Develop business rules and escalation workflows to identify operations work that may require accounting review, including capitalizable betterments, component replacements, asset retirements, transfers, and disposals.
• Establish recurring reconciliations between CMMS asset registers and the ERP fixed asset records; investigate, assign, track, and resolve data and process exceptions.
• Develop reporting that provides visibility into CMMS-to-ERP integration status, asset-event volume, reconciliation results, exception aging, data quality, and financial-readiness risks.
• Coordinate with the Senior Fixed Asset Accountant to ensure accounting-relevant operational events are delivered with the supporting information required for accounting capitalization, retirement, transfer, or other fixed asset processing.

What you'll bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (e.g., Business Administration with an accounting focus, or Management Information Systems).
• 7+ years of progressive experience in fixed asset accounting, capital asset management, finance transformation, or business systems analysis within capital-intensive industries (such as data centers, high-tech manufacturing, energy, telecommunications, or utilities).
• Strong technical comprehension of fixed asset accounting principles, including capitalization thresholds, componentization, betterments versus routine maintenance, asset de-recognition, transfers, and disposals.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience working with an ERP system, such as NetSuite, with specific exposure to fixed asset subledger management, capital project records, and purchasing modules.
• Demonstrated experience working with a CMMS platform, such as Nuvolo or an equivalent enterprise work and asset management platform (e.g., ServiceNow EAM, Maximo, TRIRIGA), including an understanding of equipment hierarchies, work orders, and asset status tracking.
• Proven experience designing, testing, or managing business requirements for integrations, automated data interfaces, or reconciliation workflows between operational maintenance systems and ERP subledgers.
• Experience establishing internal controls, audit trails, and physical-to-book reconciliation frameworks compliant with SOX and internal audit standards.
• Strong analytical and data-manipulation skills, with the ability to reconcile disparate datasets, investigate systemic anomalies, and identify process bottlenecks.
• Exceptional cross-functional collaboration and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to translate technical engineering and operational workflows into accounting requirements and vice versa.

Compensation and Benefits 

• Competitive Salary: $150,000 - $175,000 (commensurate with experience) + bonus + sign-on equity grant.
