Position Summary
Under the general supervision of and reporting to the Director of Student Financial Services, the Office Coordinator is primarily responsible for front line customer service and general support of the department. The coordinator provides exceptional customer service to students assisting them with financial aid, student accounts, and VA educational benefit processing and compliance questions.
Key Responsibilities
Advise students about financial aid, student accounts and VA benefit program questions, policies and procedures. Interaction with students is primarily via phone, email, and individual appointments.
Help students submit forms as needed, confirm receipt, set expectations and timelines.
Answer general questions about available scholarships and assist with the processing and posting of awards.
Create, update and maintain various forms, reference materials and documents.
Maintain student records within the student information system.
In collaboration with other team members, create and coordinate FAQs for students.
Assist with special projects under the guidance of the department directors.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Associate Director or Director.
Support staff as needed.
Qualifications
Communication: Exceptional organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills to guide non-traditional students and manage confidential data securely.
Service Excellence: Dedicated to delivering high-quality, responsive customer service to the university community.
Compliance Knowledge: Familiarity with financial aid, student accounts and VA educational assistance programs is helpful but not required. Direct, hands-on experience using Colleague, NSLDS is preferred. Follow strict privacy rules, such as FERPA when handling student data. Familiarity with Microsoft office suite.
Experience and Education: Bachelor’s degree, minimum of 2–3 years of experience in higher education, preferably within a Registrar's Office, Financial Aid, or Veterans Affairs department or a combination of education and related experience.
