This is an amazing career opportunity to work with a growing international SaaS company, leveraging cutting-edge AI tools while making a significant impact on business operations and financial management.

Company Profile:

Our client is an innovative startup revolutionizing the property management industry with cutting-edge SaaS solutions. Their mission is to empower property managers globally by streamlining their operations and improving customer relationships through our technology.

Overall purpose and responsibilities of the role:

The Financial Controller will join the finance function as a new position replacing the existing VP Finance role. The role will work closely with the Israel-based bookkeeper and outsourced payroll service providers. The company operates through two primary legal entities: one in the United States and one in Israel. The majority of R&D, IT, development, and leadership functions are based in Israel, with additional operations and contractors across the Philippines, Ukraine, Spain, Georgia, and other locations.

The role is an individual contributor position with no direct reports and is expected to be 100% hands-on, with no support staff performing the day-to-day finance responsibilities on the Controller's behalf.

Duties and Responsibilities:

About the Role

We are a fast-moving, AI-native SaaS company operating across the US and Israel, and we run our finance function the way we build our product: lean, automated, and AI-first. We are looking for a young, ambitious, ultra-tech-savvy Financial Controller — based in the Philippines and reporting directly to the CEO — to own the day-to-day of our finance operations end to end. This is a hands-on controller role. You will personally own the day-to-day finance work — payments, corporate-card and expense management, billing and collections, revenue reconciliation, and the core bookkeeping and month-end close in NetSuite — and you are accountable for getting it done accurately and on time. What sets this role apart is how you do it: we want someone for whom Claude and other AI tools are already a daily habit, who uses them to work faster and with fewer errors, and who steadily improves and automates these workflows over time.

The ideal candidate is super bright, an exceptionally quick learner, deeply comfortable with modern software and data, and hungry to grow. You are rigorous with the numbers and the details, and you reach for AI and automation as a force-multiplier — not a substitute for owning the work and understanding it end to end.

How We Work: AI-First

You will still do real, hands-on finance work — but you are expected to use AI to do it better.

In practice:

  • Use Claude and other AI tools as part of your daily toolkit — to draft, analyze, cross-check, and speed up your work — while keeping ownership of the numbers and the judgment behind them.
  • Look for opportunities to automate or accelerate repetitive tasks, rather than defaulting to doing everything by hand.
  • Build and refine prompts, lightweight scripts, and automations that make reconciliations, coding, reporting, and reviews faster and cleaner.
  • Always review and validate AI output — you are accountable for accuracy, and AI is a tool that supports your work, not a replacement for understanding it.
  • The company expects candidates to have practical, hands-on AI knowledge, not simply general familiarity with AI. Strong accounting skills alone will not be sufficient if the candidate cannot demonstrate meaningful day-to-day use of AI and automation.

What You Will Own

Payments & Contractors

  • Process US contractor and US direct-employee payments twice per month — review each and release funds from the deposit account.
  • Process vendor payments twice per month — review and release funds from the deposit account.
  • Own the financial side of Deel: review Deel charges, remove erroneous charges, and monitor tax communications — never ignoring penalties or open cases, opening tickets promptly and escalating as needed.
  • International contractors are distributed across locations including the Philippines, Spain, Ukraine, and east of Europe. Their payment and onboarding/offboarding activities are processed through Deel.

Corporate Cards & Expense Management (Ramp)

  • Perform daily review of card charges — ensure no declined transactions, and correct wrong accounts, departments, and subsidiaries.
  • Open new cards, allocating each to the correct entity, expense account, and department in NetSuite, and applying the correct tax code for Israeli charges.
  • Prepare a monthly card-allocation file, and manage spend against limits at month-end (accounting for expected upcoming charges).
  • Update Ramp bank information monthly.

Billing, Collections & Revenue

  • Monitor payment status weekly and follow up at month-end on the reason for any uncollected charges.
  • Reconcile Stripe to the books monthly — verify the journal entry is correct and that Stripe payouts match the bank.
  • The Controller will also monitor the billing Slack channel for billing-related requests, charges, and transaction-processing requirements.

Travel & Marketing Spend

  • Review the expected travel budget and costs ahead of each trip; approve the total charge and per-employee allocation, and flag overcharges or personal usage.

Bookkeeping & Month-End Close (NetSuite)

  • Prepare the Anthropic cost-allocation journal entry.
  • Revalue open balances across all entities (open-currency revaluation for each entity, by month).
  • Reconcile revenue against Stripe and confirm that VAT has been reported.
  • Support the broader month-end close, ensuring transactions carry the correct department, account, entity, and tax coding.
  • Month-end will involve a heavier workload across NetSuite and Excel, including preparation of end-of-month reporting and detailed reconciliation and analysis of client revenue.

Working Structure

The Financial Controller is an individual contributor with no direct reports. The position is expected to have direct interaction with the CEO and leadership team on a daily basis.

The role may involve approximately one to two meetings per day with the CEO, leadership, or Israel-based bookkeeper to align on priorities, answer questions, and resolve finance-related matters.

Requirements

Who You Are

  • Young, ambitious, and hungry to grow into a broad finance-operations role reporting to the CEO.
  • Ultra-tech-savvy and genuinely techy — you pick up new software instantly and enjoy it.
  • A strong, hands-on finance operator who is rigorous with numbers and detail and takes full ownership of getting the work done accurately and on time.
  • An AI power-user: Claude and other AI tools are already part of your daily habits, and you use them to work smarter — not to avoid doing the work.
  • A super quick learner and exceptionally bright — you can be handed an unfamiliar process and own it fast.
  • An excellent written-English communicator, proactive and clear with internal leaders and external vendors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field;CPA certification is required.
  • 2–5 years in bookkeeping / accounting / financial-operations roles, ideally supporting US-based or multi-entity international companies.
  • Hands-on experience with NetSuite is a priority and is strongly expected for the role; Familiarity with Ramp, Stripe, and Deel is a strong plus.
  • Solid grasp of multi-entity, multi-currency (USD / ILS) accounting — journal entries, revaluation, and reconciliations.
  • Demonstrated practical use of AI or automation is required. Candidates should be able to show that they use AI as part of their actual day-to-day work, rather than having only general familiarity with AI.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, particularly in the context of US-based and multi-entity financial operations.
  • SaaS industry experience is highly preferred, particularly experience with subscription-based businesses and revenue models. Candidates from other industries may be considered if they demonstrate sufficiently strong, hands-on accounting and finance experience.
  • Advanced Excel skills for financial analysis, reporting, reconciliation, and budget/P&L review are preferred.
  • Familiarity with Chase and experience handling US banking transactions are advantageous.
