THE ROLE

The Executive Director HR, Managed Venues (California based – preferred) will serve as a strategic and operational HR leader supporting Legends’ portfolio of arenas, stadiums, and theaters. This role partners closely with venue leadership, regional operators, and business leaders to drive workforce strategy, organizational effectiveness, and employee engagement across a high-volume, multi-site environment. Unlike a traditional corporate HRBP role, this position requires a strong balance of strategic partnership and hands-on operational execution, supporting both salaried and hourly workforces in fast-paced, event-driven environments. This individual will play a critical role in shaping the employee experience across venues while ensuring consistency, compliance, and scalability of HR practices across multiple locations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic & Operational Partnership

  • Serve as the primary HR partner to venue leadership teams (General Managers, Regional Leaders, and Operations Executives)
  • Align HR strategy with business priorities across multiple venues, ensuring operational effectiveness and workforce readiness.
  • Support workforce planning for seasonal, event-based, and high-volume staffing environments.
  • Provide guidance on organizational design, staffing models, and labor optimization across venues.

Multi-Site Workforce Leadership

  • Support a geographically dispersed workforce across arenas, stadiums, and theaters.
  • Partner with local HR and operations teams to ensure consistent execution of HR programs and policies.
  • Drive standardization while allowing flexibility for unique venue needs.
  • Support large-scale hiring initiatives, including event-based and seasonal staffing.

Employee Relations & Labor Strategy

  • Provide guidance on complex employee relations issues, including investigations, performance management, and corrective action.
  • Partner closely with labor relations teams and leadership on union environments where applicable
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local labor laws across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Mitigate risk while balancing operational realities and employee experience.

Organizational Effectiveness & Change

  • Support venue leaders through organizational changes, restructures, and business transitions.
  • Partner with leadership on building high-performing teams and strengthening leadership capability.
  • Drive engagement and retention strategies in high-turnover, hourly workforce environments.
  • Support post-acquisition or integration efforts across venues.

Talent & Performance Management

  • Lead talent reviews, succession planning, and development strategies for venue leadership teams.
  • Partner with leaders to identify high-potential talent and build internal pipelines.
  • Support performance management processes and leadership coaching across locations.

Culture & Engagement

  • Champion a strong, inclusive culture across all venues
  • Drive employee engagement initiatives tailored to both frontline and leadership populations.
  • Partner with business leaders to improve employee experience in high-demand, guest-facing environments.

SUPERVISORTY RESPONSIBILITIES           

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Legends Global’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding; disciplining employees in conjunction with Human Resources; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and/or Experience          

  • 7+ years of progressive HR experience, including significant experience supporting multi-site or operational environments
  • Experience in hospitality, sports & entertainment, retail, or other high-volume workforce environments strongly preferred
  • Experience working in unionized environments is preferred
  • Proven experience supporting large, distributed workforces
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required

Skills and Abilities  

  • Strong ability to influence and partner with operational leaders in fast-paced environments
  • Deep experience in employee relations, workforce planning, and organizational design
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution
  • Experience managing competing priorities across multiple locations
  • Strong business acumen and understanding of operational drivers
  • Comfortable working in environments with high variability, changing priorities, and non-traditional schedules (nights/weekends/events)
  • Knowledge of California employment laws

COMPENSATION

Competitive salary, commensurate with experience, and a generous benefits package that includes medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, paid vacation, and 401k plan.

Salary Range: $155,000 - $165,000 

WORKING CONDITIONS

Location: Remote-Based in California (preferred), with occasional travel to venues and corporate offices as needed
