FLSA status: Temporary, non-exempt, part-time
Schedule: September 21, 2026 - May 28, 2027, 10 hours weekly, Monday - Friday during business hours (between 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. MST)
Pay range: The starting pay for a new employee in this role is $15.81/hour
Organization Description
Established in 1963, the Institute for Shipboard Education (ISE) is a 501(c) non-profit organization. In collaboration with academic partner Colorado State University, ISE delivers the Semester at Sea® (SAS) program, one of the longest operating higher education study abroad programs. Semester at Sea® provides its students a global comparative education through classroom and experiential learning in the field. The Semester at Sea® floating campus, the MV World Odyssey, carries around 550 students plus faculty, staff, and others. The duration of the semester voyage is typically 105 days, including visits to 8- 10 countries. ISE conducts two semester voyages annually. See semesteratsea.org for more information.

Position Description
We seek an individual who practices expert customer service, appreciates the value of international experiences, and is willing to work to positively impact a transformational educational program. The Enrollment Communications Assistant will report to and be mentored by the Director of Enrollment Communications, Insights, and Systems. This individual will assist with tasks related to ISE| Semester at Sea recruitment and marketing activities, including but not limited to answering incoming student questions; collecting forms & data from students; replying to email, SMS, and phone messages; hosting student information sessions; moderating and participating in Semester at Sea’s ZeeMee community; and more. As a part of their work, the assistant will be trained in the professional use of Salesforce, the leading customer relationship management (CRM) tool used by corporations and nonprofits worldwide\. The Assistant will work closely with Enrollment and University Relations personnel, Student Support Services Advisors, and other ISE staff members across the organization to provide extraordinary customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Engagement with Students
Frontline point of contact for prospective and confirmed students and their parents seeking information
Communicate with students, family members, and others by phone, email, SMS, ZeeMee, and during virtual events
Assist in the management of admissions general email inbox, SMS account, and ZeeMee community
Develop and maintain knowledge of all program offerings, policies, and procedures to accurately advise students preparing to sail on a voyage
Perform other duties as assigned
Data Entry
Track records and update information in the CRM as necessary
Assist in auditing pre-voyage documents and requirements
Utilize the customer relations management (CRM) tool, Salesforce, to maintain accurate student and school records
Research
Support the efforts of Student Support Services and Recruitment and University Relations personnel by researching study abroad offices and offerings, regional events, student needs and wants, etc. Additionally, it is expected that this individual attends weekly all-company and Enrollment Team meetings, typically held every Monday from 9:00 - 10:30 AM MST.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
High degree of resourcefulness and initiative
Comfort and proficiency with diverse technology and software, and a willingness to learn new technologies
Ability to maintain office standards and protocol with respect to processes, confidentiality, and other issues as may arise
Be flexible, open-minded, and maintain a positive attitude
Knowledge of global education and ability to promote ISE’s interests to friends, family, students, and the community
Special consideration will be given to alumni of the Semester at Sea program
Working Conditions
