As an Education Consultant, you will play a key role in growing McGraw Hill’s presence across Brisbane and the wider Queensland and Western Australian higher education markets. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by building strong relationships with academics and university decision-makers and driving the adoption of McGraw Hill’s digital learning, courseware and print solutions. How Can You Make an Impact?

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with academics, faculty leaders, procurement teams and other higher education decision-makers.
  • Develop a deep understanding of university priorities, teaching needs, curriculum changes and market trends.
  • Identify unmet customer needs and recommend tailored McGraw Hill digital, courseware and print solutions.
  • Prospect for new opportunities, develop a strong sales pipeline and convert opportunities into sustainable revenue.
  • Monitor competitor activity, economic conditions, educational trends and demographic changes to identify new business opportunities.
  • Act as a trusted local representative of McGraw Hill, becoming a familiar and valued presence across university campuses.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to develop strategic opportunities and deliver customer value.

What Will You Be Doing?

  • New Business Development & Prospecting: Proactively identify, develop and convert new business opportunities by prospecting across the assigned territory, building relationships with higher education decision-makers, uncovering unmet needs and creating opportunities for growth.
  • Strategic Relationship Management: Establish and grow a strong network of contacts across universities, engaging academics and key stakeholders to understand their challenges and priorities, strengthen existing partnerships, and identify opportunities to retain and grow business.
  • Customer Needs & Solution Selling: Analyse customer requirements and lead consultative conversations to recommend relevant McGraw Hill digital learning, courseware and print solutions that address their needs, create value and support positive learning outcomes.
  • Customer Engagement & Success: Engage with customers throughout the adoption lifecycle, including digital customer engagement, implementation, training and ongoing product use. Work closely with Digital Learning Consultant and the wider McGraw Hill team to support effective product adoption, resolve customer needs and promote positive customer and learner outcomes.
  • Sales & Pipeline Management: Proactively manage sales activity and opportunities from prospecting through to conversion, maintaining a healthy and accurate Salesforce pipeline. Lead sales presentations, negotiations, tenders and contract processes where applicable.
  • Territory & Market Coverage: Take ownership of the assigned territory, maintaining a consistent physical presence across both home-base and remote universities through planned campus visits, face-to-face meetings, events and other customer engagements. Develop a strong understanding of the local higher education landscape, including university structures, decision-making processes, competitor activity and emerging trends.
  • Internal Collaboration: Work closely with the wider McGraw Hill team and relevant channel partners to develop strategic opportunities, deliver effective customer solutions, support implementation and ensure a consistent and high-quality customer experience.

We’re Looking for Someone With

  • A bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with at least 2 years of sales experience and a proven track record of success.
  • Experience selling digital products, technology or solutions, ideally within higher education or to academic institutions.
  • A competitive and entrepreneurial mindset, with the initiative to prospect, cold call, build a pipeline and develop new business.
  • Strong relationship-building, communication, presentation and influencing skills, with the ability to engage and persuade diverse stakeholders.
  • The ability to operate independently and take ownership of a territory, while collaborating effectively with internal teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving, organisation, prioritisation and time-management skills.
  • A data-driven approach to sales, with the ability to identify trends, analyse customer needs and use insights to inform commercial decisions.
  • Enthusiasm for digital learning, teaching technologies and the evolving higher education environment.
  • The ability to quickly understand a complex university landscape and develop a strong network of academic and institutional contacts.
  • A valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel extensively within the territory, up to approximately 60%.
