Working within established functional specifications and technical architecture, you will collaborate with Dynamics 365 consultants, technical leads and developers to produce secure, well-documented and supportable solutions. You will be working with an established Australian industrial refrigeration and HVAC services provider. The organisation relies on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central as a core financial and supply-chain platform, making the accuracy, reliability and security of its technology solutions essential to both operational and corporate teams.

Ideal Profile

Experience

• 2–3 years of experience in Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central or NAV AL development, or comparable development experience with demonstrated AL capability.
• Proven experience developing AL extensions, including tables, pages, codeunits and report layouts.
• Working knowledge of the Business Central data model, development patterns and platform capabilities.
• Exposure to Business Central integrations using custom APIs, events and interface logic.
• Experience with source control, versioning and structured deployment practices.
• Experience within an industrial, field services, trades or similar operational environment will be highly regarded.

Education and Certification

• A degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Relevant Business Central or AL training will be advantageous.
• Microsoft MB-820 Dynamics 365 Business Central Developer certification, or a commitment to achieving it, will be regarded favourably.

Technical Skills

• Strong AL development capability across extensions, pages, codeunits, reports and related Business Central objects.
• Sound knowledge of Business Central architecture and data structures.
• Ability to build the Business Central component of cross-system integrations from approved designs.
• Strong testing, troubleshooting and defect-resolution skills.
• Understanding of coding, commenting, documentation and source-control standards.

Responsibilities

AL Development

• Design, build and maintain AL extensions, including tables, pages, codeunits, report layouts and related objects.
• Develop Business Central customisations that extend beyond standard configuration and custom fields.
• Deliver solutions in line with approved architecture, coding, commenting and documentation standards.
• Prioritise standard functionality, configuration and suitable AppSource extensions where custom development is not required.

Integration Development

• Build and maintain the Business Central and AL components of cross-system integrations.
• Develop custom APIs, events and interface logic according to approved functional and technical designs.
• Implement defined authority rules, conflict-resolution processes and error-handling requirements.
• Coordinate with developers responsible for connected platforms and services.

Quality, Testing and Documentation

• Test all AL development thoroughly before release.
• Resolve defects identified through code review, testing or production use.
• Maintain accurate source control, versioning and change documentation.
• Submit work for technical review and complete required revisions.
• Document customisations clearly to ensure ongoing supportability and knowledge transfer.

Capability Development

• Continuously strengthen Business Central and AL development expertise.
• Progressively take ownership of more complex and independent development work.
• Apply mentoring, technical guidance and review feedback to improve delivery quality.
• Build capability toward a senior Business Central AL development position.

Team Coordination

• Work closely with functional consultants to understand requirements, priorities and acceptance criteria.
• Follow technical direction provided by the Dynamics 365 Technical Lead.
• Contribute effectively both independently and as part of the wider Dynamics 365 development team.
• Participate in sprint planning, work prioritisation and delivery coordination.
• Communicate progress, risks and blockers clearly to relevant stakeholders.

Security and Compliance

• Develop solutions in accordance with established information-security controls and governance requirements.
• Protect sensitive business systems, customer information and security infrastructure.
• Ensure development work remains reliable, traceable and compliant with approved standards.
