BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
The United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) is the world's largest humanitarian agency, fighting hunger worldwide. We are seeking to fill the position of Disability Inclusion Officer based at our Headquarters in Rome, Italy or remotely. WFP is well-known for its ability to deliver food assistance rapidly to people in need. In order to respond effectively in the challenging contexts in which WFP operates, staff require sound knowledge of the fundamentals of programming, as well as skills in specialized areas, such as humanitarian access, protection, accountability to affected populations (AAP), and conflict sensitive programming. The Gender, Protection and Inclusion (GPI) team at WFP Headquarters supports the integration of gender equality, protection and inclusion considerations across WFP’s policies, programmes and operations. This includes strengthening how evidence is generated, analysed and used to inform programme design, implementation, and corporate reporting, and ensuring that people-centred approaches are consistently reflected across the programme cycle. The Programme Quality and Excellence team within GPI ensures that high standards of each thematic area covered by GPI, including Disability Inclusion, remain adequately addressed in WFP’s programmes and operations. Under the overall supervision of the Senior Disability Inclusion Advisor, the Disability Inclusion Officer will undertake the following duties

Education:
Masters degree in one or more of the following disciplines: social sciences, development studies, international relations, sociology or other relevant field.

Fluency in English is required, knowledge of another UN language is strongly desirable.
