About Us:
Comfrt is one of the fastest-growing direct-to-consumer brands, dedicated to blending mental wellness, inclusivity, and elevated comfort into every piece we create. Our mission goes beyond clothing — we strive to build a community where everyone feels supported and seen.

About the Job:
Comfrt is seeking a Director of Planning to lead financial planning and inventory strategy across our dynamic ecommerce and direct-to-consumer operations. This is a pivotal opportunity to shape how Comfrt optimizes its owned channels, bringing analytical rigor and strategic vision to drive sustainable growth, maximize customer lifetime value, and build a world-class planning organization.

Reporting to the VP of Planning, this leader will own comprehensive financial planning, inventory management, and demand forecasting across all DTC channels including Comfrt.com, mobile app, marketplaces and emerging ecommerce platforms. This individual will be equally comfortable building sophisticated top-down financial models as they are diving deep into customer data and channel-specific insights to drive revenue growth, optimize inventory productivity, and enhance profitability across our direct channels.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead strategic financial and operational planning across all DTC channels, including sales, margin, inventory, and cash flow, ensuring performance against company targets.
  • Lead seasonal buy planning across product categories, from strategy and assortment development through execution, replenishment, and post-season analysis.
  • Develop annual and multi-year strategic plans in partnership with the VP of Planning, aligning growth initiatives, profitability targets, brand strategy, and inventory efficiency.
  • Manage the Open-to-Buy (OTB) budget and inventory investment strategy, providing guidance on seasonal buys, allocations, SKU rationalization, and inventory positioning.
  • Build and maintain rolling 18–24 month demand forecasts by channel, category, and customer segment to inform buying, production, and cash flow decisions.
  • Oversee weekly core and seasonal replenishment, including SKU-level projections, inventory positioning, and allocation across channels.
  • Analyze sell-through, margin, and inventory performance to identify opportunities for reorders, promotions, assortment changes, and inventory optimization.
  • Manage margin and DTC performance reporting, providing leadership with clear insights into profitability, inventory health, channel performance, and recommended actions.
  • Lead seasonal buy sheet development and communicate assortment, quantity, and timing requirements across Merchandising, Production, Sales, and Marketing.
  • Optimize delivery timing and logistics decisions, balancing air versus ocean freight based on cost, speed-to-market, cash flow, and inventory needs.
  • Oversee box forecasting and purchasing to support fulfillment requirements while optimizing logistics costs.
  • Support retail expansion by overseeing inventory planning, allocation, and positioning for new and existing store launches.
  • Partner with Production, Marketing, Ecommerce, Fulfillment, and Customer Marketing to anticipate supply risks, align promotional and production calendars, and minimize stockouts and excess inventory.
  • Leverage advanced analytics, data modeling, and AI-powered tools to improve forecasting accuracy, inventory health, and planning efficiency.
  • Provide strategic analysis and recommendations to senior leadership, including quarterly business reviews, performance insights, and investment decisions.
  • Build strong cross-functional partnerships across Merchandising, Operations, Ecommerce, Marketing, Analytics, Finance, and Supply Chain to drive alignment and execution.
  • Continuously improve planning processes, tools, and methodologies to increase accuracy, scalability, and speed of decision-making.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing planning team, fostering analytical excellence, commercial thinking, accountability, and career growth.

Requirements:

  • 12+ years of progressive experience in merchandise planning, buying, inventory management, demand forecasting, or ecommerce planning, including 8+ years in a leadership or senior individual contributor capacity.
  • Proven ownership of OTB budgets, seasonal buy strategy, and inventory planning across DTC and wholesale channels.
  • Deep expertise in demand forecasting, inventory optimization, margin management, retail mathematics, sell-through analysis, and inventory productivity.
  • Comprehensive understanding of ecommerce, omnichannel, and DTC business models.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising, Finance, Statistics, or a related field.
  • Expert-level Microsoft Excel skills, including advanced functions, pivot tables, complex formulas, macros, and AI-enabled modeling.
  • Experience with planning, forecasting, and business intelligence platforms such as NetSuite, Shopify, Looker, Tableau, or similar tools; ability to quickly learn and optimize new systems independently.
  • Proven ability to build and scale planning processes and teams in high-growth environments.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable business recommendations.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple seasonal cycles, competing priorities, and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing planning teams and foster a collaborative, commercially focused culture.

Who You Are:

  • Strategic mindset balancing long-term channel vision with near-term execution, margin, and inventory optimization.
  • Strong commercial acumen with the ability to turn data and customer insights into actionable strategy and buying decisions.
  • Proven ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing, collaborative teams.
  • Entrepreneurial, solutions-oriented approach to building scalable processes, analytics, and a planning culture focused on growth and profitability.
  • Adaptive leader with a bias toward action, accountability, and resourcefulness in ambiguous, fast-paced environments.
  • Customer-centric with strong curiosity about ecommerce trends, consumer behavior, and competitive dynamics.
  • Exceptional organizational and communication skills with the ability to manage multiple seasonal cycles independently.
  • Comfortable optimizing planning tools and processes and leveraging AI and advanced analytics to improve planning capabilities.
