Director of Operations

Position Summary 

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Operations is responsible for leading the corporate operations team and driving transformation across the enterprise. This role builds the operational framework that enables organizational scale by establishing business processes, governance, performance management, and cross-functional execution.

Serving as a strategic partner, this leader collaborates with functional heads to identify operational challenges, build practical solutions, and continuously improve how work gets done throughout the organization. Working closely with the technology team and business stakeholders, they lead the evaluation and implementation of new processes, automations, and workflows that make employees more effective, improve collaboration, and reduce administrative burden. The Director of Operations oversees Marketing Operations, Contract Operations, Corporate Legal Administration, and the Enterprise Project Manager.

Success in this role will be measured by the organization's ability to scale through stronger operational execution, repeatable business processes, effective governance, cross-functional alignment, and the development of a high-performing Corporate Operations organization that enables sustainable growth and supports mission delivery. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Build and lead enterprise operations by establishing the structures, processes, and operating disciplines that support organizational scale and efficiency. 
• Develop and manage enterprise-wide budgets and resource plans, ensuring operational investments align with strategic priorities and organizational capacity. 
• Partner with HR and executive leadership to establish enterprise planning and performance frameworks, including corporate goals, KPIs, operating reviews, and performance expectations that drive organizational alignment, accountability, and execution.
• Serve as the primary operational advisor to the COO and executive leadership, providing guidance on enterprise operations, organizational effectiveness, and execution readiness. 
• Support the launch and optimization of new business lines and capabilities, partnering with business and functional leaders to establish the operating infrastructure, processes, resources, performance measures, and cross-functional support required for successful execution and growth.
• Translate strategic priorities into actionable operational plans, with clear objectives, performance expectations, and accountability mechanisms across all functions. 
• Oversee core operational functions to ensure each area has the processes, tools, and capabilities required to deliver value. 
• Standardize and modernize business processes by leading documentation, workflow mapping, SOP development, governance design, and enterprise process optimization. 
• Drive operational consistency and efficiency through business controls, streamlined workflows, reduced manual effort, and technology-enabled automation. 
• Partner with IT to align enterprise systems, workflow automation, and technology investments with operational needs. 
• Establish and maintain operational metrics, KPIs, dashboards, and reporting, enabling informed executive decision-making and measuring the impact of operational improvements. 
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement, operational excellence, and accountability across all operational functions. 

Functions Reporting to This Role 

• Marketing Operations – Owns marketing operational infrastructure, HubSpot administration, campaign operations, automation, reporting, documentation, and process optimization. 
• Contract Operations – Owns operational infrastructure supporting Client Contract Services, focusing on improving processes, workflows, governance, reporting, and CLM administration for external contract delivery. 
• Corporate Paralegal – Administers corporate legal and governance activities, including vendor agreements, NDAs, entity filings, corporate records, and coordination with outside counsel. 
• Enterprise Project Management – Leads enterprise project execution, cross-functional coordination, and delivery against strategic initiatives. 

Qualifications Required 

• Bachelor’s degree in business, Operations Management, Engineering, or a related discipline. 
• 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations, business operations, operational excellence, management consulting, or a related field. 
• Demonstrated experience building operational capabilities in high-growth or rapidly changing organizations, including creating structure, processes, and operating disciplines where they did not previously exist. 
• Experience developing operational metrics, executive reporting, and performance management frameworks. 
• Strong executive presence with the ability to influence across all levels of the organization. 
• Exceptional leadership, organizational development, communication, and change management skills. 

Preferred 

• Experience in defense contracting, aerospace, technology, or another highly regulated industry. 
• Experience leading enterprise operational readiness for new systems, products, or business capabilities.
