About Zact
Zact is a fintech innovator dedicated to helping organizations simplify expense and payment management. Our platform aligns employees, finance, and accounting with stronger controls, cleaner workflows, and continuous reconciliation to financial systems.
Role Overview
The Director of Marketing is a hands-on, creative marketing leader responsible for building awareness of Zact, educating the banking market, and creating demand for Zact’s platform.
This is not a traditional corporate marketing role focused primarily on managing agencies or large internal teams. We are looking for a working marketer who can develop ideas, create compelling messaging, execute campaigns, build communities, and personally drive programs from concept through execution.
The successful candidate will combine strong creative instincts with practical execution skills and a deep curiosity about how to make Zact stand out in a rapidly changing commercial banking and fintech market. This person will help banks understand that they have a new alternative for delivering modern spend management, payments, and related services to their business customers.
Key Responsibilities
- Build a deep understanding of Zact’s products, customers, competitive positioning, and bank distribution model.
- Develop campaigns and outreach programs that build a qualified sales funnel for banks and generate concrete, sales-ready opportunities for the team.
- Work closely with sales leadership to continually open new doors, support active opportunities, and improve market awareness.
- Develop clear, differentiated messaging that explains why Zact matters to banks and their business customers.
- Create marketing programs that educate banks about changes in the commercial payments and spend-management market and position Zact as a compelling alternative.
- Develop creative concepts, campaigns, content, presentations, collateral, and other materials directly rather than relying primarily on outside agencies.
- Build Zact’s presence at industry conferences, including event concepts, speaking opportunities, sponsorships, customer engagement, and supporting materials.
- Develop and lead an annual Zact bank conference designed to bring together customers, prospects, partners, and industry leaders.
- Build and grow a community of banks using Zact, encouraging collaboration, engagement, advocacy, and shared learning.
- Build and grow a community of users of Zact products to strengthen engagement, gather market insight, and create customer advocates.
- Manage Zact’s public relations strategy and relationships with relevant media, analysts, and industry influencers.
- Own and expand Zact’s social media presence with engaging, relevant, and differentiated content.
- Identify customer stories, market trends, and industry developments that can be turned into compelling marketing opportunities.
- Manage outside agencies or specialist resources selectively when they add value, while retaining direct ownership of strategy, creativity, and execution.
- Establish practical marketing metrics and continually evaluate which activities are generating awareness, engagement, pipeline, and customer advocacy.
- Help define Zact’s marketing function as the company grows.
What Success Looks Like
- Qualified Pipeline – Build a qualified, marketing-sourced sales pipeline for bank prospects — measured in qualified opportunities and pipeline dollars. This is the primary measure of success for this role.
- Market Awareness – Develop a clear and distinctive Zact voice and significantly increase awareness of Zact among banks, fintech partners, and industry decision-makers.
- Creative Execution – Produce high-quality campaigns, messaging, content, and programs that differentiate Zact without requiring a large internal marketing organization.
- Events & Community – Create an effective conference and event strategy and build active communities of Zact banks and users.
- Brand & Thought Leadership – Position Zact as an important voice in the evolution of commercial banking, payments, and spend management.
- Marketing Scale – Build repeatable marketing programs, processes, and capabilities that can scale as Zact grows.
Required Qualifications
Business Development & Marketing Experience
- 7+ years of experience in marketing, brand, communications, demand generation, agency, or related roles.
- Demonstrated ability to personally develop and execute marketing programs rather than relying primarily on large teams or outside agencies.
- Strong portfolio or track record of creative campaigns, positioning, messaging, content, or brand development.
- Comfort operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment where priorities evolve and initiative matters.
Fintech & Banking Experience
- Direct experience marketing a similar B2B or B2B2B software/platform product to banks or financial institutions as the customer — this is a core requirement, not a nice-to-have. Marketing an enterprise platform to a bank (long sales cycles, procurement/RFPs, compliance-conscious buyers) is a different skill than consumer fintech marketing or marketing inside a bank's own brand team.
- Experience in fintech, payments, banking, financial services, B2B SaaS, or another complex B2B industry.
- Familiarity with commercial banking, payments, cards, expense management, or financial technology.
- Agency experience, particularly in a role involving strategy, creative development, or direct client work, is highly valued.
Creative & Strategic Capability
- Strong creative instincts and the ability to translate complex products or market changes into simple, compelling ideas.
- Ability to develop distinctive messaging and campaigns that attract attention and create engagement.
- Strong writing, storytelling, presentation, and communication skills.
- Willingness to challenge conventional approaches and experiment with new ways to reach the market.
Demand Generation & Sales Alignment
- Experience developing marketing programs that support business development and generate qualified sales opportunities.
- Ability to work closely with sales teams on target accounts, campaigns, outreach, events, and opportunity development.
- Understanding of how marketing activities translate into measurable pipeline and revenue outcomes.
Events, Community & Communications
- Experience developing industry events, conferences, customer programs, or community-building initiatives.
- Experience managing public relations and social media programs.
- Ability to engage directly with customers, prospects, partners, media, and industry influencers.
Education
- BS/BA degree or equivalent professional experience preferred.
