The Director of Finance will oversee daily accounting operations, manage a team of nine professionals, and modernize financial systems to support firm growth. They are responsible for maintaining banking relationships, ensuring compliance with trust accounting, and implementing internal controls and automation.

DIRECTOR OF FINANCE – National Law Firm (Permanent)
Our client, a national law firm, is looking to hire a Director of Finance to join their team. This is a fully remote position that will play a critical role in modernizing financial operations and make an impact on a growing national firm.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily accounting operations to ensure the overall financial success of the firm
- Oversee, manage, and mentor a team of 9 Accounting Professionals—including Accounting clerks, Staff Accountant, FP&A, etc.—providing guidance and training as necessary
- Oversee AP/AR, General Ledger, Reconciliations, Cash Applications, and Close Processes
- Manage expense reimbursement/corporate credit card program
- Act as the subject matter expert regarding all financial operations, systems, and processes, optimizing each where applicable to position the firm for continued growth
- Create and maintain positive professional banking relationships
- Manage client trust accounting while ensuring compliance across multiple jurisdictions
- Create, implement, analyze, and adjust internal controls, policies & procedures, and existing workflows to support organizational growth
- Identify opportunities for automation, conduct research, and ensure seamless implementation
- Create SOPs and training documents to ensure team members are set up for success
- Collaborate with leadership team members to improve financial operations
- Work well both independently and in a team environment
- Other duties as assigned/as necessary
Details:
- Position is full-time, direct hire
- 100% Remote, although employee must live in the Northeast USA
- Some travel to Philadelphia is required for quarterly meetings
- $150,000 - $175,000 annually depending on experience; 10% discretionary bonus
- 10 years’ progressive Accounting experience, within a law firm setting; 5+ years in an accounting leadership role
- Trust/IOLTA experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA is preferred
- Proficient computer skills; Aderant or comparable legal software is required
- Strong organization skills and time management skills
