Summary:

The DevOps Engineer is critical to designing, implementing, and maintaining a scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud environment—primarily within AWS. The role will be responsible for managing infrastructure as code, developing robust CI/CD pipelines, supporting containerized and microservices-based architectures, and driving automation across deployment workflows. The role will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including development, QA, and operations, to ensure system reliability, performance, and scalability. Additional responsibilities include support for VoIP/telephony infrastructure, real-time messaging systems, and active participation in on-call rotations.

What This Role Does:

• Designs, implements, and maintains cloud infrastructure on AWS, focusing on networking, security, and cost efficiency.
• Builds and manages CI/CD pipelines using Bitbucket to automate software delivery and deployment processes.
• Develops infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or Ansible to ensure consistency and scalability.
• Manages containerized applications using Docker and supports Kubernetes-based deployments for microservices-based architectures.
• Oversees the management and optimization of both relational (RDS) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Couchbase) databases for efficient data storage and retrieval.
• Supports telephony infrastructure using tools like Asterisk, Kamailio, and RTPEngine.
• Implements and maintains messaging and streaming platforms like Apache Kafka for real-time data processing and integration.
• Enhances monitoring and alerting capabilities using tools such as Datadog, Netscout, and ELK (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana).
• Establishes and maintains alerting workflows through OpsGenie, integrating with Slack to streamline communication and accelerate response times for incident management and resolution.
• Collaborates closely with development, QA, and operations teams to streamline deployments and ensure smooth system operation. Shares knowledge and works cross-functionally to achieve shared goals.
• Diagnoses issues and identifies root causes, ensuring optimized system performance.
• Participates in an on-call rotation to provide support for critical systems and infrastructure, ensuring timely response and resolution of incidents.
• Demonstrates willingness to shift working hours as needed to support global teams or handle time-sensitive escalations.
• Creates and maintains documentation for infrastructure, processes, and procedures to support knowledge sharing and onboarding.
• Contributes knowledge and mentorship within the team to foster a culture of learning and growth.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

What You Will Bring:

• A high school diploma or equivalent is required; a bachelor's degree in a related IT discipline is preferred. Equivalent combinations of education and relevant industry experience will be considered.
• A minimum of four (4) years of experience in a DevOps or similar role, with a focus on cloud infrastructure, automation, and managing complex environments.
• Proficiency in scripting and automation using languages like Python, Bash, or similar.
• Experience with configuration management tools such as Chef or Ansible.
• Understanding of CI/CD tools and processes, with hands-on experience in Bitbucket (or similar).
• Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) using Terraform.
• Familiarity with managing containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes.
• Proficient in managing and optimizing databases, both relational (RDS) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, Couchbase).
• Understanding of telephony/VoIP infrastructure using tools like Asterisk, Kamailio, and RTPEngine.
• Knowledge of Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) and related VoIP technologies.
• Experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as Datadog, Netscout, and ELK.
• Knowledge of messaging and streaming platforms like Apache Kafka.
• Knowledge of security best practices, including vulnerability management, static code analysis, and compliance frameworks.
• Strong attention to detail and on-time completion of deliverables.
• Professionalism in dealing with all levels of management and staff.
• Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
• Self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills, self-directed, and able to handle multiple priorities with demanding timeframes.
• Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to foster a high-quality, team-oriented environment that drives results.
• Demonstrated ability to use discretion, make sound decisions, and maintain confidentiality
• Willingness and ability to work flexible hours as needed.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and modern communication tools for virtual teams (e.g., Microsoft Teams, Slack).

Preferred:

• Experience with SIP protocols
• Experience maintaining a high availability telecommunications infrastructure
• Experience with VOIP environments (such as Asterisk, Kamailio, RTPEngine and Cisco)
• Experience administering NoSQL databases with Couchbase or MongoDB. Experience in designing, developing, tuning, optimizing, deploying, and updating NoSQL instances and Couchbase or MongoDB dataset.

Work Environment:

100% Remote: Work environment is at home.

Compensation:  

$120,000 - $130,000 plus 5% bonus plan determined by competitive market analysis and internal equity considerations. Final compensation will be based on the candidate’s qualifications, experience, and business needs.
