Description
We are seeking a contractor to support an initiative focused on engaging with online communities on Reddit. The role will be centered on building a credible presence, contributing to ongoing discussions, and generating insights on how audiences engage with key topics in real time.
This is not a traditional social media role. Success in this position requires a strong understanding of Reddit culture, the ability to contribute authentically, and a focus on long-term community participation over short-term visibility.
How you'll contribute
- Develop a strategy to build and maintain active Reddit profiles through consistent, high-quality participation
- Identify and engage in relevant subreddits and emerging conversations
- Write discussion-based comments and responses aligned with community norms, in collaboration with internal teams and experts
- Contribute in a helpful, human, and non-promotional manner
- Monitor engagement (e.g., karma, responses) and track recurring themes, questions, and sentiment
- Support light experimentation with content formats and engagement approaches
- Provide regular insights on community behavior, trends, and opportunities to inform broader strategies
Our ideal candidate has
To succeed in this role, you will have the below qualities:
- Demonstrated experience using Reddit actively (posting, commenting, engaging in threads) - currently active Redditor
- Strong understanding of Reddit culture, tone, and moderation dynamics
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to adapt voice across contexts
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple streams of activity
- Fluency in spoken and written English and Spanish (required)
Nice to haves:
- Experience in community management, digital and/or strategic communications, or audience engagement
- Familiarity with working across multiple online personas or accounts
- Experience tracking online conversations and extracting insights
- Genuine interest in topics related to the environment, climate change and energy
- Portuguese and/or French languages are an asset
