AVP, IT Operations & Cybersecurity

The AVP, IT Operations & Cybersecurity is an influential executive leader accountable for setting the strategic direction of the organization's cybersecurity posture and IT operations function. This role directs multiple functional areas, establishes enterprise-wide strategy, and ensures organizational alignment with DIRECTV's business objectives. The AVP serves as a key strategic business partner to the executive team, translating corporate goals into actionable security and operations roadmaps while managing significant budget, resources, and cross-functional teams.

Here’s what you’ll do:

Strategic Leadership & Direction

• Own and drive the overall direction of cybersecurity and IT operations across the enterprise.
• Develop and authorize corporate and organizational cybersecurity and IT operations policies for implementation across multiple functional areas and business units.
• Build and maintain comprehensive strategic roadmaps that align cybersecurity and IT operations strategy with broader business objectives.
• Partner directly with executive leadership to align business strategy with organizational goals.

Team & Functional Management

• Manage cybersecurity domain experts and technical leaders across multiple teams.
• Direct and control activities across multiple functional areas, ensuring coordinated execution of initiatives.
• Champion "security by design" principles, embedding comprehensive security integration into all organizational processes and workflows.
• Cultivate and manage relationships with external partners, vendors, and third-party stakeholders.

Governance & Communication

• Serve as the primary point of communication to upper management on cybersecurity posture, strategic direction, and emerging risks.
• Lead the development and rollout of organizational security policies, ensuring consistent implementation across business units.
• Provide analytical insight and reporting to inform executive decision-making.

Financial & Resource Oversight

• Own budget planning, allocation, and financial performance for the cybersecurity and IT operations functions.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize operational efficiency and cost management.
• Make strategic decisions regarding resource allocation that impact long-term organizational security and business success.

Risk & Decision-Making

• Evaluate high-complexity, high-impact business and functional problems, applying strategic insight to mitigate risk.
• Make critical decisions where errors could seriously impact functional, divisional, or company-wide operations.
• Anticipate and respond to evolving cybersecurity threats and operational challenges before they escalate.

What you’ll need to be successful:

Required Experience & Expertise

• Extensive expertise and demonstrated experience in cybersecurity, IT operations, and strategic planning.
• Proven track record leading large-scale operational functions within a complex organization.
• Experience managing complex organizational structures, multiple teams, and cross-functional stakeholders.
• Demonstrated success managing external partner and vendor relationships.

Leadership & Business Acumen

• Strong executive leadership capabilities with the ability to influence and align stakeholders across all levels.
• Demonstrated ability to operate as a strategic business partner to senior executives.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to translate data and risk assessments into actionable strategy.
• Exceptional communication skills, including the ability to present complex security and operational topics to non-technical executive audiences.

Scope of Role

• Capable of developing and authorizing corporate/organizational policy with enterprise-wide impact.
• Comfortable directing multiple functional areas through layered team structures.
• Focused on large-scale, high-impact initiatives rather than day-to-day tactical execution.

This position requires but is not limited to 10% travel.

This is a remote position that can be located anywhere in the United States, with the exception of Alaska. #LI-Remote

DIRECTV's compensation structure is designed to be market-competitive and fully supports efforts to attract and retain employees. It is the company's policy to offer pay that is competitive with other employers in the local market. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.

The Base Salary range displayed below reflects the minimum and maximum target salary for each of DIRECTV's 4 (four) US Labor Market Zones. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

DIRECTV WAGE ZONES: $178,852 - $324,697

Low (N1): $178,852 - $268,228

Mid (N2): $188,265 - $282,345

High (N3): $207,092 - $310,580

Top (N4): $216,505 - $324,697
