Audit QA & Project Coordinator (1099 Contract, Part-Time)
Revu Healthcare | Remote | Up to 20 hours per week
About Revu Healthcare
Revu Healthcare is a healthcare compliance advisory firm that performs retrospective documentation and coding reviews for hospitals, physician practices, and specialty providers. Our reviews span outpatient specialties, DRG validation, home health and hospice, ESRD dialysis, and remote patient monitoring. We deliver accurate, defensible findings in clear language our clients can act on.
The Engagement
We're seeking an experienced, certified coding professional to coordinate audit projects from handoff through final deliverables. This is an independent contractor (1099) engagement of up to 20 hours per week, with hours varying based on project volume. You'll serve as the day-to-day point of contact for clients on your assigned projects and work closely with the Director of Operations and our consulting team to keep reviews accurate, organized, and on schedule.
Scope of Work
Project coordination
- Take over assigned projects at handoff, confirm each account has the documentation needed for review, and request and track any missing documentation from the client
- Send consultants their project assignment details and Teams notification, and run the internal project kickoff
- Hold a weekly 15-minute project touchpoint with the consultants on each assigned project to review progress, QA feedback, questions, and upcoming deadlines
- Track account progress against project timelines and manage short timeline extensions according to Revu procedures
- Participate in regular Audit Operations check-ins with the Director of Operations (currently Monday, Wednesday, and Friday)
Quality assurance
- Perform quality assurance reviews of consultant findings for coding accuracy, guideline support, and consistent rationale
- Maintain audit worksheets and account status tracking so project information is current and accurate
Client communication
- Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for clients on assigned projects, beginning at the external kickoff call
- Send each client a weekly progress update every Friday
- Escalate missing documentation, access issues, timeline risks, and other concerns early, following Revu's escalation path
Deliverables and rebuttals
- Draft preliminary and final verbal readouts for Director of Operations approval, then send approved readouts to the client
- Initiate and track the 14-business-day client rebuttal period, escalating when a response is at risk
- Cross-check rebuttal outcomes against preliminary findings
- Support preparation of written reports
Required Qualifications
- Active Certified Professional Coder (CPC) credential through AAPC, held for 5 or more years and in good standing
- 5 or more years of professional coding experience
- Strong working knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS Level II coding guidelines
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and comfort with Word, PowerPoint, and Microsoft Teams
- Strong attention to detail and clear, professional written communication
- Ability to protect PHI and follow HIPAA requirements
- Reliable, secure internet connection and own computer equipment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in both coding audits and production coding
- Inpatient coding knowledge, including ICD-10-PCS and MS-DRG assignment
- Quality assurance experience reviewing other coders' or auditors' work
- Project management or project coordination experience
- Additional credentials such as CPMA, CIC, COC, CCS, or RHIT/RHIA
