What is This Position About?

This position is an early-career capture role designed to develop strong federal acquisition, contracting, and capture strategy expertise over time. An Associate Capture Strategist is responsible for supporting the development and execution of federal growth strategies for clients looking to grow their innovative technology within the Department of War (DoW).

This role begins by assisting experienced Capture Strategists in building and executing federal growth strategies and gradually progresses to independently managing a portfolio of clients. Associate Capture Strategists initially support senior team members by performing research on behalf of clients, assisting with opportunity identification within the DoW, supporting federal outreach efforts, and gaining hands-on experience with the federal acquisition process. He or she collaborates with Capture Strategists and Proposal Writers to ensure supporting materials are prepared and aligned with overall capture objectives.

As experience, judgment, and subject-matter knowledge grow, this role evolves to include direct responsibility for managing and maintaining enduring, long-term relationships with assigned clients, including developing a deep understanding of the clients’ technology, goals, and pain points; clearly communicating strategic plans; advising them on the potential benefits/drawbacks of that plan; adeptly navigating conflict to a peaceful resolution; and expertly focusing efforts on high-value efforts based on professional judgement.

He or she will also enhance department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

What Will You Be Responsible For?

  • Assist experienced Capture Strategists in federal capture activities, including research, opportunity identification, and outreach support with a path toward independent client ownership

  • Support the management and maintenance of strong working relationships with clients, gradually progressing to managing a portfolio of clients independently

  • Report and escalate to Management, as needed

  • Other duties as assigned

-> Responsibilities will expand as skills, experience, and judgment develop, with the goal of transitioning to full Capture Strategist responsibilities over time.
