As an Architect – Development (WMS Development), you will develop and deliver robust Java-based Warehouse Management System (WMS) solutions that support warehouse operations, inventory management, fulfillment, and automation capabilities. You will architect and build scalable applications, REST APIs, microservices, and integrations between WMS, TMS, ERP, OMS, and third-party systems to enable seamless supply chain processes. You will optimize application performance, reliability, and maintainability through modern software engineering practices and cloud-native technologies. You will leverage Azure services, Kubernetes, and data platforms to modernize legacy systems, improve operational visibility, and support business growth. You will provide technical expertise in design, development, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of mission-critical warehouse and distribution applications.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage high-performing Java development teams responsible for designing, developing, enhancing, and supporting enterprise-scale Warehouse Management System (WMS) applications and warehouse automation solutions.
- Drive the architecture, design, and development of Java-based WMS platforms using Spring Framework, RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven integrations to support complex supply chain and fulfillment operations.
- Oversee end-to-end software delivery across Agile sprints and release cycles, ensuring high-quality, scalable, and maintainable solutions that align with business, operational, and supply chain objectives.
- Provide technical leadership for WMS application development, including solution design, code reviews, development standards, performance optimization, and best practices in software engineering.
- Lead development resources, assign priorities, manage technical deliverables, and coordinate cross-functional activities to support strategic WMS enhancements and operational initiatives.
- Manage the evaluation, identification, development, and implementation of software solutions.
- Define, document and record designs and modifications of application or software.
- Locate and direct solutions for critical challenges involving software and hardware interface.
- Identify and resolve failures within existing and newly developed software systems and programs.
- Design real-time and batch system interfaces and data enrichment pipelines in a cloud-native data ecosystem.
- Guide through all phases of software development life cycle (SDLC) and provide customer technical support solution analysis and design, balancing technical and business aspects.
- Troubleshoot production issues of all levels and severities, tracks progress from identification through resolution and ensure best practices are followed.
- Work with IT leadership and business partners to design features for the cloud platform.
Qualifications:
- 12+ years of hands-on Java application development experience building enterprise-scale applications using Java, Spring Framework (Spring MVC/Spring Boot), RESTful APIs, SQL Server, Web Services, Git/GitHub, and modern software design principles preferred.
- 5+ years of experience leading software development teams, delivering complex enterprise applications through Agile methodologies and SDLC best practices preferred.
- 3+ years of hands-on Warehouse Management System (WMS) development experience, including system customization, configuration, integrations, warehouse automation, inventory management, and order fulfillment processes preferred.
- Strong expertise in designing and developing distributed systems, microservices architecture, API integrations, event-driven solutions, and high-volume transaction processing environments preferred.
- 3+ years of experience with WebSphere, IBM MQ, Drools, Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), and enterprise integration technologies preferred.
- Proven experience architecting and supporting integrations between WMS, ERP, OMS, automation systems, and third-party applications preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of Azure cloud technologies, including Azure Data Factory, Databricks, Kubernetes, containerization, and cloud-native application development preferred.
- Experience leading modernization and digital transformation initiatives involving migration from legacy platforms to cloud-based architectures preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership experience building, mentoring, and developing high-performing technical teams preferred.
- Strong background in systems analysis, application architecture, performance tuning, and troubleshooting complex enterprise applications preferred.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly diagnose and resolve technical and operational challenges preferred.
- Proven project leadership experience managing multiple priorities, release schedules, and cross-functional initiatives in fast-paced environments preferred.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across business and technology teams preferred.
- Experience supporting supply chain, distribution center, logistics, and warehouse operations environments is highly preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree - Computer Science, Information Technology or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.
- 7 years experience in a lead development role.
- 5+ years experience in common programming and data language, for example, JAVA, Python, SQL, .NET, API, or Data Base, etc.
- Strong working knowledge of Azure Data Factory and Databricks.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Adept at conducting research into project-related issues.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- 9 years experience in a lead development role.
- 5+ years experience in Cloud Solution.
- Familiarity with NoSQL databases (such as CosmosDB).
- Ability to multi-task and reprioritize in a dynamic environment.

This amount is what we reasonably believe we will pay for the position; however, offer amounts may vary based on factors such as geographic location, relevant education, experience, qualifications, skills, shift, or any collective bargaining agreements.
For eligible positions, compensation may include participation in a bonus or sales incentive plan, subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable plan documents. For certain sales roles, Wesco also offers a commission structure that provides additional compensation based on sales results, as defined by the applicable commission plan.
