Our kit and component manufacturing sites are situated across the US (Middleton, Petaluma, and  Novato) and Europe (Berlin and Lystrup) and are underpinned by either ISO 13485 or ISO 9001 compliance. These capabilities support a wide portfolio of off-the-shelf components and kits critical to NGS workflows including magnetic beads, oligos, enzymes, and library prep kits. Additionally, our primary manufacturing capabilities enable customization and bulk (OEM) manufacture of reagents such as key NGS enzymes for high volume applications.

Job Description

The AmpSeq Programme Director is responsible for leading the cross-functional programme required to scale AmpSeq from strategic growth priority into a robust, governed, commercially reliable and operationally sustainable global platform. 

The role provides overall programme leadership across customer intake, design, pilot execution, kit manufacture, services delivery, BioIT, quality, supply chain, commercial readiness, product development and site implementation. It is accountable for governance, prioritisation, risk management, stakeholder alignment, KPI tracking and delivery of the AmpSeq roadmap across Middleton, Berlin and other contributing sites. The role works closely with Operations, Commercial, Innovation Hub, Product Development, Quality, Bioinformatics, Supply Chain, Finance, PMO and senior leadership to ensure AmpSeq growth is delivered with clear ownership, scalable processes and measurable business impact. 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to capably perform each of the following essential duties: 

• Business Impact: Lead the AmpSeq programme as a strategic growth platform, driving delivery of revenue, customer conversion, operational scale-up, service readiness and programme outcomes across global stakeholders. 

• Innovation & Change: Direct cross-functional change across NGS workflows, portal adoption, panel design, pilot execution, manufacturing scale-up, BioIT support, quality controls and customer onboarding. 

• Type of Work: Balance strategic programme leadership with operational issue resolution, ensuring near-term delivery risks are managed while building a sustainable future-state operating model. 

• Key Stakeholders: Partner with global Operations, Commercial, Product Development, Innovation Hub, BioIT, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, PMO, site leadership and senior executives to align priorities and unblock delivery. 

• Communications: Provide clear programme updates, escalation packs, decision logs, risk summaries, KPI reporting and leadership communications for operational reviews, steering committees and executive forums. 

• People Management: Lead through direct and matrixed teams, setting expectations, assigning accountable owners, clarifying decision rights and supporting capability development across programme workstreams. 

• Process Oversight: Own the programme governance model, including operational huddles, Tier 2 escalation reviews, steering committee decisions, intake and questionnaire review, action tracking, decision tracking and risk management. 

• Subject Matter Expertise: Apply strong understanding of NGS services, AmpSeq customer workflows, design-to-pilot processes, kit manufacture, service delivery, BioIT dependencies, quality expectations and operational scale-up. 

• Continuous Improvement: Identify and drive improvements in turnaround time, first-time-right performance, traceability, inventory management, workflow standardisation, dashboarding and operational handoffs. 

• Data & Metrics: Establish and manage KPIs for revenue progression, opportunity conversion, panel design performance, pilot status, turnaround time, manufacturing readiness, capacity, quality and customer delivery. 

• Physical Demands: Primarily office, meeting and virtual work, with periodic site visits to laboratory, manufacturing and service environments. 

• Policy & Standards Compliance: Ensure programme activities comply with LGC policies, quality expectations, EHS requirements, customer commitments, data controls and relevant operational standards. 

• Other Duties As Assigned: Perform other duties as required to support AmpSeq growth, business continuity and strategic delivery priorities. 

Qualifications

Essential Knowledge and Qualifications:  

• Degree or equivalent experience in life sciences, molecular biology, genomics, biotechnology, operations, programme management or a related discipline. 

• Significant experience leading complex cross-functional programmes in life sciences, genomics, laboratory services, manufacturing, operations or commercial delivery environments. 

• Demonstrated ability to manage strategic programmes with multiple workstreams, dependencies, risks, stakeholders and senior leadership governance requirements. 

• Strong understanding of operational scale-up, customer onboarding, service delivery, supply chain dependencies, quality requirements and process governance. 

• Experience using dashboards, action logs, decision logs, risk registers and KPI reporting to drive accountability and programme delivery. 

• Strong communication skills, including ability to simplify complex operational and technical issues for executive, commercial, technical and site-based audiences. 

Desired Knowledge and Qualifications:  

• Experience with NGS, AmpSeq, KASP, FlexSeq or comparable high-throughput genotyping service platforms. 

• Experience working across multiple global sites and managing delivery through matrixed teams. 

• Formal project or programme management qualification, such as PMP, PRINCE2, Lean, Six Sigma or equivalent practical experience. 

• Experience with ERP, LIMS, Salesforce, Tableau, Smartsheet, Microsoft Project or other operational planning and reporting tools. 

• Familiarity with customer-facing technical programmes, product launch readiness, validation, manufacturing readiness and service implementation.
