Actuary – Value Based Payments (Seattle Health)

Milliman's Seattle Health Practice is looking for an FSA with experience in health actuarial work with a focus on Value Based Payments (VBP) in government programs (Medicare, Medicaid). The position requires creative actuarial capabilities, good communication and interpersonal skills, and organizational talents. A high degree of self-motivation and the ability to lead a team of dedicated consultants are also necessary for success. We provide extensive on-the-job training in consulting skills and advanced actuarial techniques.

You will have the opportunity to:

What We’re Looking For

Professional Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, statistics, economics, or a related field
• FSA designation
• 7+ years of healthcare actuarial experience, with at least four (4) years in a consulting or advisory role supporting health plans, state Medicaid agencies, or ACOs.
• Minimum of five (5) years of experience with VBP arrangements (e.g., shared savings, capitation, and other provider risk arrangements).
• Minimum of three (3) years leading Medicare and/or Medicaid program VBP work, including delegating work to and mentoring junior staff.
• Experience with current Medicare and Medicaid VBP programs (REACH/LEAD, MSSP, AHEAD, TEAM, managed Medicaid or Medicare Advantage provider risk) is a plus.
• Proficiency with Excel
• Some knowledge of SAS, SQL, Python, or R
• Strong understanding of the US healthcare system
• Demonstrable skills in presenting technical concepts to a non-technical audience in an understandable way

Location
This position is based out of the Milliman office in Seattle, WA. It is preferred that this employee work in-office, but remote candidates anywhere in the US will be considered.

Compensation
The overall salary range for this role is $103,500 - $242,650. A combination of factors will be considered, including, but not limited to, education, relevant work experience, qualifications, skills, certifications, etc. For candidates residing in:

• Alaska, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, or the District of Columbia:
  • $119,025 - $214,820 if overall experience is less than 10 years; and
  • $134,435 - $242,650 for experience greater than 10 years.
• All other states:
  • $103,500 - $186,800 if overall experience is less than 10 years; and
  • $116,900 - $211,000 for experience greater than 10 years.
